We are looking for a DP. I do not want the ISB 6.7 regardless of HP rating. I want the ISL engine regardless of HP rating. Please advise. There is no replacement for displacement.

The Discovery after 2013 has the ISL. Anything with an ISL is going to be a medium end coach.

What size coach are we talking here?
Smaller is cheaper and lighter, so yes, a real rocket ship.
Hopefully it will have a large enough tranny to pull more than itself, when loaded and with other specs. that many don't bother to consider.

Why stop at an ISL? If you're willing to step back in time a late model Foretravel U320 is available for under $200K with an ISM rated for 500 HP.

Cheapest, usually delivers what your paying for...

If you want an ISL, pick your budget level, and drop year to buy the highest quality coach that remains within your budget.

IMO (And you can keep the $.02 if you don't agree:)!), it's better to have a higher quality built coach that is used, then a new lower quality built coach... (And quality is both build, components, and materials.. One tip, since you are say ISL let's pretend it's a 40'. Compare the weights of 'entry level rear radiator 40' units, with higher up the food chain side radiator units'... You will find that entry level quality coaches, weight less, then higher quality coaches. That added weight, comes from many areas ob better build materials, components, design, chassis, etc.

Happy hunting,
Smitty

I'm going suggest you revisit your needs and priorities. Decide what things you need in an RV. Then decide on size and budget.
That will give you a range of MH's that fit you.
And don't worry so much about eng size - the above will dictate that part to a large degree.
And there's no more wrong a cliche than the "no replacement for displacement". The replacement is technology and modern eng design. The smallest ISB puts out more power and torque than many OTR trucks of days past that had MUCH bigger engines.

You're not likely to find a ISL in a smaller rig no matter how much you want to pay. Besides whats wrong with an ISB, I had two in my boat?
