Considering a new Winnebago View 24J

Hello all,

I've bounced around a lot over the years from multiple Truck Campers to our current travel trailer, and now we are considering trying our hand with a Winnebago View 24J. This is a new unit and one that has just about every option imaginable to include solar and full body paint. The only issues we have seen initially is the lack of a net or something to keep the kids from falling out of the overhead bunk, and auto levelers. Is there anything else specifically that we should be considering or look at before we go through with this?

Thanks

A 24' Class C really does not need auto levelers. As noted they add weight that comes right off of your available payload {check what you have to begin with as it probably isn't all that much}. Levelers are often as problematic as slides and electric steps adding another layer of complexity to what should be a simple rig.

The yellow Leggo blocks work fine and in 4+ years I've never had to go more than 2 high and usually just on one side. Walk around most campgrounds and you will find most of the folks with levelers have them resting on a yellow block... :S

As Always.... Opinions and YMMV.

Lewis RV in Dayton Ohio is known for low prices and it may be worthwhile calling them for a quote, 937-253-8816. They will deal over the phone and are another resource for information.

I don't know if there are any after market options for a netting on the overhead bunk, but I am sure you could fix up something. As far as the levelers, some people add the HWH levelers as an aftermarket option and I think it costs about $4,000. It also adds to the weight and if you plan to tow a car, it may affect that. We have 2013 Via which is on the MB chassis and we love it, great mileage, and it can go just about anywhere and is easy to park. There is another forum specifically for Winnebago Views on Yahoo, View and it will provide you with lots of information about everything on the View. Also lots of opinions on to install levelers or not. We did not install them on our Via, and it is not an issue for us, so you may want to drive it for a while and see if you think you need them. I do carry the little yellow leveling squares and occasionally have to use them on uneven campsites. You can look at RV Trader to get sales prices in Colorado and nationwide, RV Trader. You will have to register for the Yahoo View Group, but the information is worth it.
