Country Coach solid front axel

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a 1999 CC Allure. Can any other CC owners give me your options on the solid front axel. I'm a little nervous about the handling. After owning this wandering P30 the ride/handling is the first thing on my list. I haven't been able to drive it yet but we will the first week of April.

Not sure which chassis you're talking about here with the solid axle and never could figure what the problem was with a P30. Now it doesn't say Chevy on the steering wheels, does it and if so, we're looking at a rare P12 With our 30, all you need is one of your little fingers for driving it with ease. Had an older one also and even though, not as good as our present on, it did OK. I mean I just don't get and would love to look down under and drive one of these impossible beasts, I keep reading about.
Having said all of this, I would dare compare it to DP chassis, but will take on a F53 Ford or WH W chassis for handling and comfort. In fact there's a W near by, that I've ridden in and talked with the owner as well.

Will the sides and graphics be paint on this era coach? I have the 1999 brochure that CC sent me and it just says fiberglass vacuum bonded walls. How about clear coat?

Dont worry about handling and such. If I remember right..??....its basically a Gilleg chassis under your rig..besides...your coming from a P30..??...only thing that handles worse is a ball bearing!....:B

ROTFLMAO

Not yet. I have been trying to go see it since the end of January. We kept on getting snow on top of snow. I'm going to finally see it April 6 when he gets back from vacation.

I have always preferred the solid front with air ride over the IFS. You hardly ever have the problems of uneven tire wear with the solid axle. Just notice all of your tour busses have solid front axles.

Mike,

I have a solid front axle in my TS (Spartan Mountain Master Chassis) and it handles likes a dream. Before we purchased this rig I drove the same coach with an IFS and to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference. There are many factors that go into handling so I suggest you drive it first and then decide. Comparing a 90's version of a P30 or F53 chassis to most, if not all, air ride diesel chassis' is apples and oranges. Good luck.

P30s have independent front suspension. The problem is it was never intended to be a Moho chassis. If you look down the side of mine you can still see the Lay's potato chip logo. :B That's what they were intended for delivering potato chips.

You need to go over to the Yahoo Country Coach forum and join then do so checking and ask a few question. They will give you some help on that year and model.

Mike,
Country Coach or Foretravel would be my first picks!!! I don't think you can go wrong with Country Coach. One of the safest coaches on the road, even if it is a orphan. There is no comparing it to a P-30's handling. That would be like comparing the handling difference between a Rolls Royce to a Yugo.
