DIY Garage Gantry Crane

Hi,

I recently started building a gantry crane to work on my Ford Transit Conversion. Halfway through, I realised I wanted it to be mobile (obviously) but I don't know what kind of casters will handle the weight/last long enough to get a good use from them.

I've found these: https://www.castercity.com/automotive-industry-casters/ but they're all 8"" tall. I think that's a bit excessive for my needs. So I was looking and found these: https://www.castercity.com/product/specialty-casters/vending-machine-caster/ but they don't look like they're worth the price.

Anybody have any experience in this?

Thanks!

I would suggest at least a 4" diameter wheel for easy movement. If you're on a concrete floor a steel wheel caster would be the best. (Don't usually see non-steel on floor jacks, do you?) All casters should pivot for ease of movement.

Did you check Amazon or Harbor Freight? There are a lot of options available, expand your search. Don't limit it to one website.
