door awning broke

Our door awning (Dometic/0asis) broke while retracting it and popped out to the fully extended position. The motor turns but the shaft does not. I have manually retracted after removing the canvas and tied it to the coach. Does any one know how to remove it from the coach? Or where to find a manual. We have a 06 meridian and the awning is Dometic Model 974ES56.105R. Thanks

If the motor turns and the tube does not, it could just be the drive hub, a $20 part that slides into the tube and the gear on the end of the motor shaft slides in to it....Bruce

My awning motor died just as yours did. The motor has to be removed from the left end but the strut for my patio awning was in the way. So I had to drill out the two pop rivets then slide the awning forward enough to remove the motor. The original motor drive is plastic but the new motor I replaced it with has two metal drive sprockets so a much better design. The wiring for mine went down the A pillar so that had to come off as well. Not a pleasant job but doable as a DIY project. Good luck with yours.

Mine is held on with 2 screws. I had to remove mine to have the motor replaced.
