DP air bag inflation question?

If you use the dump switch to dump your air......and don't use the jacks, such as when you store it, and don't put the jacks down. When you start the engine, do your airbags inflate ?? or do you have to hit the retract all button on the jacks, even though the jacks aren't down?

My question is............forget abut the jacks, they're not being used. I dump the air using the dump switch on the left hand panel.............then start the engine........shouldn't the air bags inflate? JACKS are UP.........haven't touched them........pretend I don't even have jacks LOL...........when you start, shouldn't the air bags inflate? Thanks
Brian

I did call Fleetwood and they said yes, they should inflate. I'm just looking for info to share with shop, they seem to think they shouldn't.....and I'm positive they use to. Just need to make sure I'm right before I go back to them. Thanks

Best to park in storage with jacks down to take some weight off the tires.
Long term storage add 20% more air to the tires.

Roger that Brian,
I gave you specifics so that it might help you understand at least how the system partially operates. While basics may answer some questions, they most likely will not in your case, based on your type of system and, it's particulars in operation. So, when one person answers you and says, "All I have to do is, start up our engine and, it will start filling the bags", that's not the case in other systems.
Hope this helps some. Good luck.

Well, actually I was looking for GENERAL info regarding this....not to a specific make and model.........that's why I didn't mention it.........but in my 2004 Fleetwood Revolution 38B I have a Power Gear Auto control leveling system on a Freightliner Chassis.

supercub,
Yes, it would be nice if you'd put your coach/model/make/ etc. and, also the brand leveling system. You see, In all that, the make model of the leveling system is the most important. But, leveling systems differ between different makes of chassis's on coaches.

For instance, in our coach, an '04 Itasca Horizon, 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT, we have the HWH 625 Computer Controlled Automatic Leveling system. That system has two styles of dumping the air from the bags. In the Automatic side of the operation, HWH takes care of the dumping and, when it comes time to air back up, HWH takes care of that when you hit the "Store" button. The jacks will begin to retract and, the air bags will begin to fill.

On the Manual side of the operation, it's pretty much the same thing with the only difference being that, manually lowered the jacks instead of HWH taking control.

Now, if you WANT to dump and, not lower the jacks, in the HWH system, you still have to turn the HWH system on but, just hit the dump valve button. And, what's most important here is, you cannot do anything without SETTING THE PARKING BRAKES! There is an interlock ground connection that is provided by setting the brakes.

So, to answer your original question, depending on WHO is the maker of your system, at least in the HWH 625 system, you must either push the "Store" button or, release the brakes, in order for the bags to start filling. At least that's the way I understand the HWH service manual and owners manual.

On edit: Apparently I was typing when you answered about your make and model. May I ask, what chassis?

Well if you had filled out your profile and had your coach info in your signature I could have given a better answer.
If I leave the dump valve open it will not fill the bags. If the dump valve is closed the bags will fill. Bags are separate from jacks.

Mine inflate after flicking the dump switch back once air tanks fill after starting the engine. Jacks position makes no difference up or down. Freightliner XC chassis.
