Engine will not crank over

I have a 1998 Four winns windsport class A motorhome. 7.4liter GMC engine. Engine will not crank over, no power to solenoid on starter. Will start if I cross starter solenoid with screwdriver and key on.
No power to crank fuse, even when key is in crank position. Ignition switch has power to it and send power out in crank position. Does anyone know if they have a fusible link some where?

For sure an interlock of some sort.
Could even be jacks down or slides out.

I had this same problem years ago. After much reading, I found the problem. Ground the starter to the frame, use jumper cables to test if it works. I then bought a battery cable with two female ends and bolted one to the frame and the other to a starter bolt. I did this in February in Minnesota as it happened a couple of days before winter vacation.

Good luck.

Does the lights on the dash come on? If they do not, check the main fuse link adjacent to large terminal on the starter. The fuse link attaches to the main post and feeds the fuse block under the dash.
There should also be a main fuse labeled "IGN"
If lights come on check the connector on the ignition switch. It is located on the steering column adjacent to brake pedal. Make sure switch is tightly mounted.

Yes, I tried to post that an hour ago, but RVnet refused to post. Switch is on the column, but there may be a switch on the side of the trans as well.

My coach is ornery at this, so once in a while, I hold my key to start and move the lever around till it cranks.

Hi,

My 1987 Ford e-350 diesel had dual solenoids. Trace the wire back from the starter and hope to find the source of the problem?
