EPDM Roof Repair

Has anyone used Kool Seal to recover their MH? If not what product have you used or known of someone else using? My National Tradewinds needs a new coating and I am searching for the best thing I might put on it myself. Any ideas or information will be greatly appreciated. Arnold

I did all front and back seams, all roof penetrations, and down the edges. 1/4 front and back. My roof was in good shape. I did it so I wouldn't have to caulk the roof anymore and take care of dry cracking edges.

I think its the best stuff out there.

I will say after a year the Liquid roof attracts more dirt then the factory EDPM roof. But it washes off no problems

It is a matter of price, liquid rubber being more expensive. The white EPDM rubber sloughs off with time and weather, eventually the top .030 or so wears off leaving black EPDM showing. It will just make the MH hotter in the summer. Case in point my friend also has a 1996 MH also which was never coated his roof is entirely black but still does not leak. The coating will add life to your roof and reflect the sun keeping your MH cooler in the summer.

Thanks for the info. I have a roofer friend who does houses, but he mentioned he had done several motor home roofs with cool seal. Said his crew would clean, calk and put new seal on my roof. I am leaning towards liquid roof for RVs. He will apply whatever I want so I might go that way. I have read several articles where someone has used cool seal on RVs and it seemed okay. Will report what I decide and how that works when I get the job done.

KoolSeal makes both acrylic and silicone based products. I used the acrylic based one and it looked good for about 4 years. I believe what you're saying. A friend of mine used Kool Seal about 2-3 years ago and it still looks good when I see it from my roof (as I wash it.) In all honesty it looks a lot better then my Henry's job from 2 years ago. His is nice, white, and clean. Mine is kinda dirty, graying, and thinning. Looks like I'll need another coat in a year.

BUT!!!! if you ever had a rig that used silicon on it's rubber roof as a repair job you know how that stuff just rubs off after 1-2 years of UV's. So I'm still holding back my endorsement on Kool Seal.

Liquid roof as I stated is the only true Edpm rubber product. I linked to it below I believe the second post. 20 year warranty if applied to their specs. Maybe it's 10 years.

I have not used that brand however I don't see why it would not work. X2 on the using eternabond on the seals.

We restored the roof on our 96 Southwind last summer.
Clean it well before applying anything. I used Eternabond on the seams and roof edges.
Then I coated the roof with Heng's Rubber Roof Coating. I used a small roller and a brush to apply two light coats. It goes on easy and does a nice job. So far it's holding up well to rain, sun, wind, snow and ice.
I bought 3 gallons and used about 2 1/2 gallons to cover 30' of roof on our 37' Southwind.
I will use Heng's again.
