EPDM Roof

My 1993 bounder EPDM roof has turned black like the top layer has worn off and I was wondering if others have had this happen and what they did type of coating used ect.

Liquid roof $80 per gal

Superior roof coat white, for Edpm and tpo $80 per gallon

Kool seal liquid roof coat $75 per gallon

Henry's #587 elastomeric roof coat white $30 per gallon

Each one covers at a different thickness and different number of square feet

Between 40 SqFt to 100SqFt per gal bucket

30ft roof will need 6 or 7 gal of liquid roof per mfg directions

While Henry's will #587 will use 3 gal per directions

Henry's also had anther coating that is listed at 42sqft per gallon and $54 per gallon

Prices approx, will very a few $$ per seller

Liquid roof, and Superior are two of the best , that I have used, of all the ones listed, and i have used all of them

Use either one and never redo the food unless you damage it

a 24 year old rubber roof. it has reached the end of it's life expectancy.

Like gbopp said. There are other brands besides Henry's and I would just go with what ever brand is available at your local big box hardware store. Some are even labeled RV Roof Repair EPDM.

I used a different brand on my 5er roof that was 10 years ago and the only leaks were on places I did not use the EPDM paint. I can not remember the brand, but it was on sale at a Do It Center for 50% off so I bought it.

I have used Henry's since then on other projects to waterproof everything from fence gates to boat hatches and it is a good product.

About a year ago I restored the roof on our 1996 Southwind. A lot of the white coating had worn off.
I washed it with Tide Powder Detergent and allowed it to dry.
Eternabond was applied along the roof edges. (I previously applied it to the seams)

Then I coated the roof with two light coats of Heng's Rubber Roof Coating. NO primer is needed.
It looks good and is leak free.

The Tide powder was recommended by Heng's.
I bought 3 gallons of Heng's and had half a gallon left when the project was finished.

Our Southwind is 37' long but, the actually roof is 30'.
It's not difficult. I used scaffold for working along the roof edge.
The scaffold is easier than a ladder, but a ladder will get the job done.

I would definitely try to coat the roof before replacing it.

If the protective top white layer has weathered away, the roof is technically done.
Some have used a coating that is designed for that purpose with mixed results.
The best (and most costly of course) thing to do is replace it.
