I have a 2004 Gulfstream Sunvoyager and the awning is so high that I am unable to reach the awning knobs when I put the awning out and put it in. I have looked for a tool to help me reach these knobs and tighten and loosen them but don't seem to be able to find this item. I am sure I am not the only short person camping. Can you help?

I do not have that problem as I am tall enough to reach all my awnings except one bed room window, but the awning rod that came with my current motor home is the longest rod I have ever seen. Suggest you check around for a longer rod. I know one is made because I have one even though I don't need it.

Do the knobs not have a slot in them for the straight "L" end on the awning rod? That's what it's for. I have a light weight 3ft step ladder also. At 5' 7" I need all the help I can get.

I myself have never seen a tool to do what you describe. I carry a ladder not for the knobs but rather to install my flap preventers I use two sets one high and one farther down. The ladder would work equally as well for doing the knobs.

The only Awning tool I know of is the awning pull down arm.. (The long arm with (usually) a loop at one end and (Always) a "L" bend at the other).

You might try a Rubbermaid 2-step step stool.. I have one of those too.

Or a six foot plus traveling companion (I do not have one of those but if I ever get a new traveling companion, SHE will have one).
