I have a 2001 Fleetwood Jamboree C that does NOT have an exterior ladder. After countless calls to local Fleetwood Dealer and Fleetwood Mfg, it comes to find out that my particular model was originally sold as a rental unit (even though I have the Carfax report other vehicle history item's that show it wasn't used as a rental)and that this Rig does not have the proper "blocking" to add a ladder. My question is how do I safely get on the roof for simple things as check caulking, unfold TV antenae ( which the service department said to just carry a large 20ft ladder with you to go camping ) etc. This whole situation has been unbeleivably frustrating.
The rental company does not want anyone falling from the roof, they also figure that there is nothing there that a person needs to do while vacationing on one of theire units, they do the maintenance and have insurance for the employees.
Get a telescoping ladder, lean it against side wherever you need to work...will not even have to get on roof for most things!...plus the telescoping ladder is easier to climb as it is at an angle, not straight up like attached ladders.
Also got 2 different answers direct from Fleetwood regarding walking on the rubber roof. Is there any special precautions for being up there temporarily ?
Thats why i love this forum.. Thanks for the input. Just based on their customer service, and what the local dealers also concured, I would Never buy a Fleetwood again. Winnebago Customer service is Light years better.
