New question - Have an in motion satilite system, which we finally got working today hurray! But we would also like to switch to antenna occasionally cannot figure out what we're missing to make this happen. We should just push distribution box from Sat to Ant and change tv's to air and I think it should work- but no cannot get it to work. What are we missing have looked everywhere for a booster switch, cannot find one. Suspect the distribution box has booster in it. Can any of you shed some light on this please. Have emailed Thor but received no reply. Will try to call them this week. Thanks in advance --

Update - after a very pleasant and informative phone call to Thor Four Winds division and several emails with photos of the area, it was determined that when the in motion dome was installed the booster switch for air antenna was removed because a power supply was needed. So now I have emailed Winegard (both antennas are theirs), and will call them to see if they have any suggestions to remedy the situation. Again thanks for all the replies.

Mich F That's what we think too - because we can't get the bedroom or front TV to actually bring up the scan for channels listing. We did hook up rabbit ears to back TV and did get one channel to come in and did get to the place to scan to come up. DrewE No it is an HDMI TV but it's like 40" size and we have them both playing on the in motion dome with SAT. But in both cases we cannot get it to scan the channels we just have to know the number and put it in manually. On the back TV we can get to the scan section but it just says it's unavailable which again tells me it is not on the antenna. UGHGGH! We do change the source in the TV to air each time. Thanks again everyone it's a work in progress!!

When you say the TV is huge, do you mean it's a CRT television (and hence presumably comparatively old)? If so, there's a reasonable chance it may not have a digital over the air tuner built in, in which case you'll be hard put to get it to receive current digital TV broadcasts. Even if it's a flat panel TV there's a chance it may not have a digital tuner, though that's rather less probable.

I believe you can scan for channels even if you didn't have an antenna (not that you would actually pick up anything). It sounds like the TV isn't really on "air" as the signal source. :?

That's the problem we cannot even get to the scan page to scan for air channels. It says it's not available, which to me means we are not getting signal from air antenna even though we have pushed the antenna button on dist. panel. On our 20 year old GBM you are correct the booster switch is hidden on side of TV under dash. This TV is huge and above the cab. We have even had our own guru searching for it (an engineer w/Valpo degree) he fixes all our problems for us this one even has him stumped. Thanks for your input we will keep checking and try calling Thor.

It may not have a separate booster switch. Just by pushing on the air/antenna button on some control boxes activates 12 volt power for antenna booster. As Mich F stated, you also have to do the scan on the tv in addition to making the switch on the control box.

Did you try a channel search/scan after switching the source to air ?

Might not have to switch TV to air. Depends on how your system is wired. Try it both ways.

In my previous motorhome the tiny red push button for the booster switch was behind the plug that the TV was plugged into. You need to find yours, but it should be right beside, underneath, or behind the 12 volt plug in for the TV.
