Freelander 7pin Wiring

I've been towing a dolly as well as flat towing a Wrangler. Wiring to both have been fine...got lights, brake lights and turn signals. So I decided to add a "charge" circuit to the Wrangler to keep its battery charged while towing. Now the issue, I don't seem to have a 12v wire at the 7pin connector. I do have wires to all 7 pins. Just not one with a constant 12v.
Thus far, I have checked fuses in the box under the hood as well as the one under the seat...nothing blown. There are three wires in the 7pin connector that seem "dead". They are a yellow/white on the center pin and blue/white and orange/white on two other pins.
Any ideas on where to look for the open? My next step will be to just disconnect those three wires and run a fused lead from the starter battery or, perhaps the house battery.

Thanks,
Gary

I downloaded the electrical section. Found the reference to the 12v trailer wire, just need to find it somewhere under the hood. It is noted as "stubbed" red/white wire. I'll be diging into it this afternoon.
Thanks agin for the lead!

hoosiermark, I'm with you on butchered wiring! I've do several restorations on old cars and dealt with the results of years of "change orders"!
I did talk to the Chevy dealer when they were rewiring the radio. Their position is it is the responsibility of the up-fitter to pull all wiring to the hitch. Apparently trailer wiring isn't, or at least wasn"t, installed during mfg. I'll give Forest River a call to ask if they have info. When we were chasing the dash/radio issues they were no help...maybe this time they will.
I did find where the wire bundle from the rear enters up through the floor directly behind the driver's seat. I'm going to try to pull the orange wire out of the bundle right at the floor and reroute it over to the battery compartment. At least I should then be using the "correct" wire! LOL
ps: Been to Batesville many times on business...always enjoyed the area.

Why not inquire from Coachmen or the local Chevrolet dealer before pulling a new wire. Somebody knows where the wire ends. I hate it when I buy a vehicle from someone and find they "modified" the original wiring. Then when you call them to ask about the odd wire, they cannot remember. Just take time to do a little research and I think you will be happier in the long run.

Searched everywhere for the "other" end of the wires with no luck. I've decided to pull a new wire.
Question, should the 12v power wire be controlled by the ignition? I can hook it up directly to the battery(with a fuse) or add a relay and control it via the ignition. My only concern with tapping into any wire on this beast is upsetting the CAN bus! I have experienced intermittent dash gauges supposedly caused by the radio being tapped into the "wrong" 12v source!

Friend has a Chevy 3500 pickup. When towing his 5er. Batteries in 5er would go dead. Found that there was no 12 volt power. I did some research. Found instructions and pictures with a Google search. Wire was tied up with zip ties just like the pictures showed. Hooked up wire per instructions. Never had dead batteries again. I would not be surprised if you have a coil of wire near chassis battery or under hood fuse block. Look for this information under Express Van with trailer towing option.

^Well, it appears you may be correct. I have idenified the fuse(30amp) but, I would need to remove the fuse block to determine what, if any, wire is attached. I'm not up for that! I'll just pull another wire.
Thanks for the help.

Okay, that's the orange wire location. I have been through the fuses a couple of times with no luck. Or at least, no blown fuses. There are a couple of fueses marked RVUpfiter that I'll take a closer look at. Or perhaps I'm just overlooking a missing relay.
Thanks,
Gary

You need to look in your chassis owners manual 'FUSE' Section for towing fuses/position-location and IF a 'relay' is also needed with fuse.
