gas stops on 285 through New Mexico

We travel in a 35 foot Class A Newmar Mountainaire (gas) and tow a Toyota Matrix. We will be traveling north from Ft. Davis, TX to I-25 on US 285 in a week. I always worry about finding gas stations when not traveling on interstates. Can anyone give guidance regarding gas stations along the route that will easily accommodate our rig? If there are none, I know that I can pick up I-25 in El Paso, but that really seems out of the way. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

just info, I25 starts at Las Cruses NM not El Paso.

The route TinBenders stated is what we travel a few weeks ago. We start out in the Springs and stop at Carlsbad to meet friends and then backtracked to Artesia to head home. Have a nice trip.

Thanks to everyone who replied --- very helpful. Since we do not want a stressful and bumpy ride, it looks like we will go the extra miles and pick up !-25 near El Paso. BTW. We are headed to Colorado Springs. Thanks again.

As said, the 285 from I20 to Carlsbad is trashed from oil field traffic, and a lot of people are dieing due to impatient drivers. I would head over to Van Horn, 54 northe to the 62 east into Carlsbad. As far as fuel. Van Horn, CBad, Artesia (Don't drink the water) or Roswell (If a Sam's Club member, Sam's on the north side usually cheapest, if not, Murphy's 2 blocks before). Then 90 miles to Vaughn, or 130 to Cline's Corner. Depends on your ultimate destination after Vaughn, if your headed north to Denver, head east on 54 and north on 84 to get to Las Vegas NM and the I25

285 from I-10 around Fort Stockton up to Carlsbad is the worst road I think I've ever been on with my motorhome. Did it once and won't do it again.
Seriously bad road.

285 is often commented on about how rough it is and the oil field truck traffic between I-20 and Carlsbad. North of Carlsbad we found it in good condition a couple years ago. But as for gas you should have no problem in Carlsbad, Roswell, or even Clines Corners at I-40/285.

Don't know about fuel, last we saw before Carlsbad was in Angelas, TX, but I remember I hated 285 in NM. Semis has beaten that road to death. Lost a hubcap off the TT and thought I would bend the steering linkage it was so full of pot holes. Was alright if we kept two wheels on the shoulder and straddled the right wheel ruts.

Good luck. You will find plenty of fuel in Carlsbad with easy access. Did not go further north on 285
