Memorial Day isn't just another day. It's one to be thankful for the sacrifice of millions who made the life we enjoy today possible.

Oct. 23, 1983 Beirut,Lebanon....my oldest brother, HM2 William B. Foster, 25 years old, Naval Medic attached to Marine division, was killed along with 240 of his fellow soldiers. Almost 35 years later. My kids weren't even born but all know the ultimate sacrifice he gave for this great country. God Bless all that served and those who are always in our hearts and minds forever.

We are at day 8 {of 10} of a great trip to the southern Rockies, currently at my buddies house in Angel Fire. Just 7 miles up the road is the Viet Nam Memorial... don't miss it if you are ever up this way.

I rode my motorcycle {Indian Springfield that we tow behind our 24' Nexus Class C} up to celebrate the day and honor my fallen brothers. The Army flew in a Huey med evac chopper and landed next to the memorial. The color guard was impressive but what really knocked me out, and generated more than few tears was standing next to the flag poles as the colors were raised and then lowered to half staff.

Heading home to Tucson in the morning and while this has been an amazing trip with 700+ miles of the finest bike riding in the country this morning was definitely the highlight.

The day we remember those who died in the service of our country. My father-in-kaw, so badly wounded at Iwo Jima by motar fire, used to say this day was for his buddies who didnโ€™t come home.
