Which is the better manufacturer/unit

If looking for a class b+ of same year and layout. Which unit to buy and why

We were so impressed with the layout and storage of the 213 we owned. The main issue for us was the sleeping arrangement. Wouldn't it be nice to see that same floorplan in a Class C with a queen bed over the cab?

The Trail Lite 211, had the rear entry, our TL 213 has a side entrance on the passenger side rear just ahead of a closet. The bath was a 3 piece bath rather than a smaller wet bath, the bath shared the rear of the coach with the a small closet, that occupied the area above an outside storage compartment. Our 213 is on a Chevrolet 3500 Express van chassis which gives us a little more leg room on the passenger side of the engine cover than the Ford E350.

I've owned both. A 2004 213 Trail Lite with the rear door entry, and a 2004 21' BT Cruiser with the side entry.

Both were on the Ford E350 chassis with the Ford V10.

They are of equal build quality, but the BT Cruiser had the better floor plan, a larger bathroom, more comfortable interior.

The rear entry on the Trail-lite was a real pain at campgrounds, and used up space that would have been better allocated to the bathroom.

Trail-lite did offer floorplans with the side door, very similar to the layout of the BT Cruiser.

So when it comes to which to choose, go for the one that has the floorplan that best suits your needs.

We bought a 2004, 21 ft, 213 B+ Trail-Lite in 2012. We had been through the plant in Warsaw when they were in business in spring 2002. We felt at the time it was a much better built RV than the Phoenix Cruiser, when we went through their plant in Bristol IN at that time. Never took a Gulfstream tour.

Things that I would change about the 213 are:
  • Move the battery location from beneath the floor
  • Larger of grey water tank
  • More 120v outlets
  • Larger bathroom sink
  • A higher location of fresh water gravity fill
  • Add a black tank rinse.

I have added:
  • A black tank rinse
  • Second house battery
  • Both house batteries now are AGM type, so maintenance isn't needed as often
  • 800W inverter
  • Shore power management system
  • Electric heating element to water heater
  • Sirius radio
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • Fantastic Fan in living area
  • Changed out TV for LED flat screen.

In 2013 we stored our Phaeton and took the B+ to Alaska on a 11,700 mile 79 day trip, great time. But we were glad to be back home to the Phaeton's queen bed. If we were to update the B+ it will be to a 25' with permanent bed.

How much time you got?

The answers are in that thread. ๐Ÿ™‚
I'm not sure either one was better built. At this point it would be more about the individual unit.
