High mileage club ;-)

I was at my truck dealership yesterday (it's really a big place) where they service all type of light and mid duty trucks and rv's.

In a long discussion we were talking about mileage (km in my case) because mine has a fair amount of it, 184000km (115,000 miles) and I was asking about longevity and if they had other customers like me. Well he told me just beside mine one had 225,000km (140,000 miles) and another one with 275,000km (171,000 miles). All 3 were on 8.1 or 7.4 GM but he has others like this on Ford's too.

My question to him was about mine and what would be the life of the engine/tranny and the reply was we have tons of delivery trucks with this set-up and if well maintained (not heating and good oil change) this set-up would go to at least 350,000km (220,000 miles) maybe more. Is that true or not time will tell.

I am sure this question has been ask before but is there a high mileage club any of you having lots of mileage on an RV?

High mileage are rare or at sleep!

Oh alright, if I must.

95 Bounder 460, with 123,000 miles on the clock. Eats a quart of 10W30 synthetic at 5K mile oil change. Transmission is still flawless.

Since you were visiting a truck dealer... my stump pullin' 7.3 dually oil burner has 253,000 miles on the clock. Throw a few parts at it along and along and it may outlast me.:C

Vortec should be a gen VI block which is good for 200K miles. Gen VI block has a larger pan, better oil flow and cooling, and roller lifters. Those are the goodies required for longevity.

The other consideration is that it needs to be driven regularly to keep the seals lubed, and prevent the inside of the engine from rusting. I knew of a '77 Revcon with almost 300K on it. The guy had only replaced normal wear parts. Unfortunately the coach developed a propane leak and blew up, or who knows how long it would have run.

Our '97 F150 has about 199,000 a lot of towing 'till about 150,000. Still runs good but a pile of rust, changed the rear half of the frame but the runing gear has lasted.
Our X has 163,??? almost all towing and have only put an alt, a battery, tires, brakes, wiper blades and lots of oil and grease. Knock on wood, it has a long way to go.
