Good day,

We are looking at the Holiday Rambler 2006 Neptune 35PDD diesel motor home. Just wondering if any of you have first hand knowledge on the model, any concerns we should be aware of?

I've heard of a lot of RV owners lowering the tire pressure by 5-7psi than mfg suggests for a MUCH smoother ride. I do not know about the safety factor in doing this.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

"West Beachhouse"......stay away from any 4 airbag Monaco's or Holiday Ramblers. Move your search to the next Monaco level, Knight. The Knight and above have 8 airbag systems. You'll never get the Monaco 4 bag system to ride smoothly.

We had a 39 foot 2007 Holiday Rambler Neptune (made by Monaco Corp.) that we bought brand new. We had it for 3 years and almost 30k miles. The first summer we took it to the dealer about ten times, then took it to the Oregon service center. Then that winter we took it to the service center in Wildwood Fl. The next summer to the factory twice to see if we could resolve the rough ride. We had the coach weighed and the air ride suspension adjusted five times. It rode so rough that I had to keep the speed to less than 65, it would knock the one piece windshield loose when it slammed at the expansion joints on the bridge overpasses. Cracked the fiberglass nose cap. It also had terrible brakes. I thought it was very dangerous to drive. I always pictured the microwave and other heavy appliances flying into us as we slammed into something because we could not stop, the brakes would just slow her down. The 5.9 Cummins diesel really had to work hard to push it, very under powered. It did have a nice Onan diesel generator and washer dryer that the wife liked. About that time Monaco Corp. declared bankruptcy and the courts let them off of hook on all their ongoing warranty claims. Monaco came back a few months latter as Monaco Ltd. and started making the same junk coaches, just abandoned their previous customers. Just glad I financed it a 100% because I had to do a voluntary repossession and just gave it back to the bank to get out from under it, cause I sure couldn't sell it. Nice looking piece of junk.

Some of that era had problems with the 'trailing arm' and there was a replacement arm. Mine had it installed before we purchased. Check to see if that has happened or if there are cracks in the arms. Can be costly.

Main concern, check these. The RR4R or R4R chassis can be ruff riding. My daughter has a 2005 36 Monaco and it cost around $7K to have everything shipped to Alaska and have the work done. They also had the 4-Bag Ride Enhancement Kit installed
