How many hours a day do you drive?

Ive seen many people ask "how many miles do you think I can drive per day" and the answers are all over the place for a verity of reasons. So lets ask it a little differently:

When you travel with your Class A, about how many hours a day do you like to drive?

6 to 7 hours, with breaks about every 100 miles.

I actually enjoy driving my motorhome. And, it's a very comfortable and convenient method of traveling. My wife and her little dogs enjoy it as well. She's never experienced a better way of traveling. She can bring everything she wants, and it's all there in the place where we're going to stay. Plus, when we get there, we have our GMC Envoy for doing our running around.
If I'm going for maximum miles per day, I get an early start and 8 to 10 hours on the road is no problem. We stop for this and that about every 3 hours.

We break or trip up into 275 mile chunks. Try to pick stops at places where there is something to do or see. We get up (never an alarm), relax, drink coffee, have breakfast, get on the road between 9 and ten. Get to our next stop I. Time to set up and check out the area.

A 350-400 mile day is a long, usually avoided day. We have found that not burning up the road to get someplace is the most relaxing way we have ever traveled. Retirement is pretty darn nice!

No offence to the middle states as they keep the left coast further away BUT there is not anything I want to see in that area again... OK, maybe Branson. SO I'll do the 1500 miles to CO in in 48 hours. Often it's mid afternoon before we can get away so I'll put in 300+ miles or until tired then put in a full day of 800, sleep again and then be there by late afternoon. If I needed to do another 700 it would not be a problem as I love driving this MH that much. Once there my personal best is 4 miles in a day.

A lot depends on where we are going and if it is over roads that we have traveled on before.
Since I am retired I know that I now have a time limit that will not wait. I do not enjoy spending my time left on roads that we have previously traveled so on those days, I am likely to drive for 8-10 hours to get to our destination.
When on new roads, we enjoy the scenery and will stop whenever we decide that we want to examine the area more closely. On a new road, we may only travel for a few hours, before we come across a place that we want to stop at.
For us it is all about seeing new things altho sometimes to get to a favorite destination we do have to travel on roads that are old news and not that enjoyable anymore.

Depends on how far I need to go. I've done two 700 mile days in a row in my motorhome. That probably worked out to about 14 or 15 hours total driving time.

4 to 6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Last trip out in our Class A I did 650 miles about 12 hours, that to many miles and to many hours.

Before we bought our Georgetown, I hadn't dome much long-distance driving for a while. I was disappointed to find that I got cramp in my thighs and hip joints after about 3 hours and even a 30-minute walk with the dogs only got me about another 90 minutes.

We changed our approach from a long-distance drive with the two or three day stay to a later departure every day then 3 hours or less behind the wheel. We tried to do our sightseeing en-route and then just spend one night at each CG (unless we need to do laundry).

That worked out pretty well, but the cramps problem got worse and we weren't using the MH very much. We sold it last December.

I like to leave 9 or 10 a.m. and stop 5 to 6 p.m. so around 8 hours. But due to this thing called a job we tend to travel 12 to 14 hours a day with minimal stops. I sure will enjoy not having to focus on the destination and needing to be back on a certain day.

That is why we hit the road.....to leisurely travel, sightseeing and enjoyment.
Secondary/backroads are our choice of routes.

Break camp around 10AM and setting up camp around 3PM with pottie stops and lunch---perfect travel day

A few times we only traveled a few miles......once just 4.

Retirement is soooooooooo much better than vacation time.

When we are time constrained, we drive till we are tired. i.e. 8 am to 9-10 pm. This is 12-14 hours as you cross time zones.
