How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

oh my god, I am on the road again, check the fuel pump on the back and check it out to see if it was getting juice, and no is was not, and there is the switch on side on the dash hhmmm what is it has an on and off, well I put click it on and go to the back to check if it is getting juice and BAM I hear it working so I test drive the sucker and cruising down the road I look at my gas and it low I look again and it very very very low, so I turn around and race home, so it wont run out of gas, as I look at the gage it empty, so I go to the back and the wire is hanging down now, well I fix it and now happy camper, I hope

When you say not giving out the power needed are you refering to voltage or wattage. This may be a simple fix of installing new brushes and having the rotor contacts cleaned. Another thing to keep in mind is that you may be asking for more wattage than the unit is able to supply. It could be that you may need to turn off on appliance while using another. Here is a formula to determine your wattage draw. Volts X Amps = Watts. Also keep in mind start up wattage pull along with operating wattage pull. For example a refridge needs 1700 watts to start the compressor but only 500 watts to operate after that.

Don't know if this will help but from experience working on Daewoo fork trucks set up to run on propane. You should see a converter with connections for radiator coolant to run through along with the propane. Two things this converter does, keeps the propane from freezing by utilizing the heat from the coolant and also opens an electromagnetic switch to allow the propane to enter. What we find alot on the Daewoo's running 24/7, is the switch has a rubber gasket that wears out and needs replaced. And low coolant lets the propane freeze up.

I have a parts manual and an operator's manual - along with miscellaneous TSBs. All in PDF, of course 😉 I'll upload to a file service in a minute for you.

Mark - do you have the service manual? If so, I'd love to get it...

Definitely go get it - they're not as quiet as the new ones (but that can be improved with a good muffler/resonator setup), but they're bulletproof. They just chug along at 1800 RPM...

New here with a 1978 Robinhood. We're in the process of refurbishing her and so far it's been a lot of fun. I've really enjoyed this thread. It's been quite informative. How about a model number or the numbers off the alternator. Some parts are still available for the older Generac's

I have then Generac TXP45 Model: 6931-1. The data plate is mounted on the alternator as stated above. Without the model number there isn't much we can do to help.

Manuals are available on-line from Generac for most of the older models.

here is called either a Generac or an Onan. But I do remember
one being called a Studebaker... along with a string of "colorful
metaphors", as Spock would say...

We're glad you're here, and reading the posts. Hopefully the unit
can be repaired. When you can, though, post some pictures of your rig!
