How to clean battery acid spill

Need to clean off of slides before they are damaged by corrosion. Don't need them ruined by the acid spill.

Possibly. Since it has a colorant added to indicate acid I would think it would be a positive. Baking soda and other methods will work but how would you know if the acid is completely gone?

That really makes no difference.
Even diluted some "caustics" are still corrosive and can produce toxic gasses when mixed with acid.

It is still NOT good advice.

Sorry but that is BAD advice.

"Caustic solutions" often are corrosive too.
And they are more dangerous to work with.
And when combined with acid, they can produce toxic fumes.

THAT is why most people recommend baking soda.

You used only a "snip" of my post and although I did not give a ratio I did say to dilute first. Heck, in reality if you use enough water you wouldn't need to use anything.:)

Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking soda) Sprinkle it. Mix it with water (As much as you can get to disslove) and spray it. wash the acid off with it.. When it no longer bubbles or fizzes. flush with clear water.> Tons of clear water (Well gallons).

While it is true ANY caustic soda will work Baking soda is safe. Non toxic and though you may need quiet a bit it won't damage the metal if rinsed off quickly.

Some other compounds.... Well in a science lab I might be able to tell you something like "1/4 cup in 10 gallons of water" of some such (NOTE nubmers are grabbed out of air and not even trying to be accurate) but too much is not a good thing.

One word of caution - Don't get the baking soda inside the battery. It will then neutralize the battery.

I agree with using baking soda. Make sure to rinse everything with large quantities of water.
