class A diesel manufactures as well as the one to stay away from. Who best stands behind their products . I do understand that there are always the holidayer friday made rv and I am asking a loaded question. I am not asking a ford vs chevy question just which are the top names to think about and names to scratch off the list to save time. I am new to rving and have never owned an rv of any kind. The family has always tent camped. I am a blank slate. I have no opinions what so ever. I don't know what is good and what is cheap. I am not looking for a million dollar rv, please keep this in mind when sharing your experience. Don't want this to turn into some battle so if you feel more comfortable pm me you answers. Thanks
I did try a search but could not find any info.

Thanks for the help bsinmich. You are right. I have never RV. The only thing I have done is tent camp. And about 300miles of the AT hiking/camping. Driving will not be a problem as I have driven big stuff before. DW on the other had has a problem with her Pries. We are in the 4-5year mode. We have talked about renting various rvs, like you suggest to get a feel for what floor plans suit us best. I am sure the dump station will make me heave ...but i am told its not too bad. I am thinking already of a peat system instead of a blackwater tank. Sorry to hear you no longer have anyone to share the experience of travel. It must be lonely
Renting the rig you think you want may not be possible. The Class Cs for rent are anything but habitable. The ones I've seen are very worn looking, inside and out. So, they would not be representative of what you'd probably want or be satisfied with. OTOH, the Class Adiesel-pushers I;ve seen for rent have starting rental pricing in the $1,500.00 or so as a minimum. Again, not anything that is affordable. Best thing to do is shop and test drive A LOT. That's basically what I did to cull-out what I knew I did not want, mostly.

In the area I live some people are renting their personal rvs that look good for 250 a night. Not to bad. I really am looking for names to consider and names to stay away from.

Wow Mr Mark you climbed up the ladder quickly. Congrats. I know you guys are enjoying the Prevost Liberty

And, in between all of those rentals, I read everything that I could get my hands on. I read Motorhome magazine from cover to cover every month. I found sites like this one back in 2006.

Chowan, renting a RV first is exactly what we did to get an idea of which type we wanted.

Our first rental was a new 2004 31 ft. Fleetwood Tioga class C with one living room slide.
Next, a new 2005 38 ft. Fleetwood Expedition class A with three slides. Finally, a new 2006 38 ft. Fleetwood Expedition class A with 4 slides.

In January of 2007, we ordered a 2008 Monaco Dynasty, 42 ft. 4 slides taking delivery in April of that year. We drove that coach for 7.5 yrs. and almost 70,000 miles.

In March of 2014, we ordered the coach in our signature taking delivery in Nov. of 2014. It's 45 ft. 4 slides and 1.5 baths.

Good luck on your search.

Yes you are right if you go to a dealer to rent. I have been looking on Craigslist and I have seen a number of individuals renting out their rvs in my area. That would probably give me differant look at differant floor plans. We don't have any shows around here til spring. But we will start getting in some very soon to see what we like. Both at dealership and private sells

Unfortunately, you won't get a feel for floorplans if you go through a standard rental facility. They buy them in mass and most will have the same general floorplan but renting will give you a feel for living in a RV.

The best thing to do is go to dealers as you see them and attend RV shows.

You sound like you have never experienced life in an RV. Before dropping a sizeable amount of cash or large loan I would suggest renting something for a week and seeing how you like this way of life. Don't stay in one spot but travel a little between stops so you can see what is involved in setting up, hooking up the electric and water, and most importantly, dumping tanks. Many people have given up on RVing at that point. We started in '69 and I am now alone. It was very enjoyable as a couple and I still get out and enjoy myself but it isn't as much fun alone. Some people are totally scared stiff driving anything this large. Have you driven anything larger?

Liberty Coach and Marathon Coach, are the manufacturer's names. Search either on the internet and you will get to their website.
I don't have 2million for an RV.Please read my original question. Thanks. I am sure Marathon and Liberty are great though.
That's good advise.

You don't have to spend $1 to $2 Million for their coaches, since your budget is sub-$1 Million.

You can use the search feature of this board and get information. I would reset the search time for at least 12 months. Another board to consider is www.irv2.com. They have an active Country Coach board and you can do a search on Newell's and Prevosts's.
