Looking At A Used 2006 FR Georgetown 319TS ?

Hi Guys,

So I'm considering picking up a used 2006 319TS for 32K CAD. The unit has 3 slide-outs and ~33,000KM. I'm entirely new to motor homes, and while the unit is being sold by a dealer they don't specialize in RVs.

Generally this line (and similar units from Forest River) look to be a good deal cheaper than other models. Is there something that FR is really cheaping out on that causes them to devalue so quickly or are they just built much cheaper in general ?

I guess what I'm asking is, is it a good buy or am I asking for trouble ? ๐Ÿ™‚ (obviously depends on condition to a degree, but discounting that).

As a Georgetown owner, a 2012 38' V10 purchased new, I would say that in general they look great, the drive train is very reliable, and they come equipped with a full line of features and are a bargain price wise. As with other price point MHs, the interior build is based on lower quality cabinets and furniture. Higher end coaches like most DPs have higher quality interior "fit and finish". Sadly all but the very highest priced RV builders have quality problems, some more so than others. Georgetown has its share, probably more than average, but it can vary widely from coach to coach. So far I have had only the kind of minor issues that occur with any manufacturer. I would strongly advise you to very closely inspect all systems and structures. Make sure all appliances, gen set, frig, furnace, etc work properly. Check tires and batteries. And climb up on the roof and look it over carefully for signs of damage or previous repair. Look at the interior ceilings of every room and wall cabinet for signs of water stains or mold. In a northern climate inspect the steel undercarriage for signs of excess rusting. If you don't feel confident to do the inspection, hire someone to do it for you. If the coach is in good shape, and the price is right, you may have a bargain that will be fun to own and use. But due diligence is your responsibility!
Order is illusion. Chaos is reality. But right or wrong I'm still the captain. ๐Ÿ™‚

Friends had an 08 Georgetown 37' motorhome, beautiful coach on the inside, but had problems with stress fractures and clear-coat peeling on front and rear fiberglass caps. It was redone once under warranty and they had the same problems two more times that they paid for before they traded it off this past fall.
