The original spec for lug nut bolt torque on our 2001 F53 chassis was 140 ft. lbs. About a year after we purchased it we got a certified letter from Ford raising the torque to 160 ft. lbs.

The letter also raised the minimum tire pressure from 70 psi to 75 psi. There were 2 stickers enclosed with the letter, one for the bolt torque increase and 1 for the minimum tire pressure increase. They were supposed to be placed near the original tire pressure sticker. In our case it was on the inside of the drivers door.

Correct answer.

Original lug nut torque specs in my 2000 owners manual was 140 lb ft. However, I later received notification from Ford revising the torque specs from 140 to 150-165 lb ft.

They also recommend when changing out a wheel the torque be re-checked after 500 miles of travel.

Hmmmm- I couldn't find the torque in the chassis manual and I haven't any stickers with torque or air pressures. Did find air pressure listed as 80# on a placard on wall below drivers window, guess that is affected by load and all that. This is an '03 F53 chassis with 19.5 wheels. My wrench goes to 150 ft#s so that is what we'll go with. Thanks to all.

If you have an older F53 chassis (88-97) with 16" rims, lug nut torque is 140 lbs.

Just checked my 2014 owners manual. 150 for 19.5 " wheels; 450 for 22.5 " wheels.

Don't have the book in hand, but I believe the torque is 140 pounds.
