Metal carport RV shelter

Hey! I am looking for input on what size metal building/RV carport to buy for my 2008 Winnebago Outlook 31c. The spec sheet says it has roughly the following dimensions:

31.5L
11.5H
8.5W

The one I have speced out is

36L
18W
12H (leg length, higher in center)

I was thinking of going shorter for less overhang on front and back mainly to save the space but was afraid I would regret it. For those who have these, how did you decide on what size to get?

Mine is 20x40 12' legs, class C is 30.5L bumper to bumper, 8'W 11-4H
Like most, I wish I had gone 4' wider & 8' longer.

Mostly storage. We may have guests stay in it from time to time. We wanna keep the sun and rain from destroying the roof as much as possible within a reasonable budget.

Is this for storage or for living in the C under the cover?

The one I have for my 31' fifth wheel is 36'x18' with 12' legs. The center of the carport is 3-4 feet above the roof at the highest point, more on the ends.

I just finish raising mine and extending it 7', this is the fourth modification, and I said to myself what Bob just said, I will scrape the whole thing and start over, don't build it for this camper build it for your last camper, it's a lot cheaper in the long run!

I have a 50'x12" wide. I have had to raise the roof 3 times for different rv's. Go high the first time and be done with it. If next rv is higher I'm scrapping the whole thing and starting over. Raising these things is neither safe nor fun.

I went 18' w 40' long and 18'high to the bottom of floor joists,as I have a screen room on top..As its on the riverfront

Did the exact thing last year for a 38' fifthwheel. Went with a 40" carport but if I had to do it over I would have went with a 48' foot carport. We are in NM and would desire a bit more shade. Specs look good.

Measure your RV yourself. Easier with a helper however. BTW 6 inches isn’t enough. You’ll never be able work on the roof.
