I would say that any shop that tries to charge you for mounting and balancing is ripping you off.

This is what they look like when they fail (2 look identical).

We bought seven new Michelins for our Class C in 2011. I requested that the dealer special order M&S2 tires because I had found out about the new design and suspected something was wrong with the older M&S tire design due to the sidewall cracking issues with it.

I sure hope Michelin addressed M&S tire sidewall integrity in their design of the M&S2 tire. The sidewall materials used for the M&S2 do in fact read different right on the M&S2 tire.

The M&S blowout issue is probably just a transient quality control problem. However, I recommend that folks don't let Michelin replace their M&S tires on the recall with M&S tires ... insist that Michelin replace with their newer design M&S2 tires.

Mine are similar to yours; the Dot Sequence is on both sides. I also have the E2 in a circle and the set of numbers in a smaller size than the DOT sequence. The date code is 4 numbers, and it is the same size as the DOT Sequence (B3JH AKEX). The date code is only on one side... you'll need to pull the set of duals to see the date code.

BruceMc - Thanks for the information. Now we'll, many of us at least, be waiting to find out who gets it done and reports back. Do you think the replacement also includes mounting and balancing?

I don't know if the info on the other side of the tires is different (dual wheels - can't see the other sides), but........buying all six tires at the same time, one should think the manufacturing dates would be close, and I can't figure out what or why the two rows of numbers mean. This E2 and the two rows of numbers do not appear on the front tires. Anyone else see this on their tires? ...

Looks like I have 6 of 'em. Code matches (B3JH AKEX), and at least the front two are well in the date range of 0210-2512, 4010. I suspect the dates on the rear 4 are similar.

Thanks for the heads-up on this recall.

Thank you for the notice.

I had 6 new tires of that size installed in March of 2012 on my 2003 Fleetwood Jamboree 29V. They replaced the originals from late fall 2002. I will have to see if they match the DOT Sequence and production period.

We had 6 LT225/75R16E1 Michelins put on in Oct. 2011 at Discount Tire. The fronts both have 3511 dates, so that's within the recall. Puzzling however are the rear tires. They have E2 in a circle, with 2 rows of numbers in the date section: 04602 above 002603. There's nothing on the Michelin website that addresses this.

Captain, I don't think anyone was questioning the quality or service of Michelin.
Their warranty is excellent and hassle free also.
Just a little glitch.

Didn't think anyone was, just wanted to point out that the M/S 2's are not the problem. I've been driving on Michelins for more than 40 years and have yet to see anything but great performance and mileage. :C

And yet the ST tires from China are NEVER recalled and they blow up many times more than the Michelins.

The Michelin LTX M/S tires have been around for about 20 years. That design has been replaced by the LTX M/S 2 which is not the subject the reported failures and this recall. I had the M/S 2's on my truck and the C came with them as well. Probably the finest tires I ever run on anything. At least Michelin is stepping up to the plate on the older problem model. I concur with the old adage.... there is Michelin and then there is everything else. :C

Curious what 'they' consider "a small number"?

The news I read said 1.2 million were produced and about 200 failures.

These tires have been awesome for me. Went way beyond the stated mileage and looked great. I only got nervous because of the mileage racking up without wearing down much. Luckily mine were way before the recall. And then I just bought 4 new ones recently.

Thanks for the info.
I had 2 fail within 2 weeks in October.
I did not feel good about the rest and suspected a defect.
