Onan 6.5 HGJAC Propane Genny No Start

I last used it a few weeks ago and it ran fine. We ran it overnight,for around 6 hours. A few days later, I tried to start it and nothing.It fired once or twice, but nothing even close to starting. Spins over fine, just doesn't fire. I checked the oil and its right up there. I took out a sparkplug and checked for spark. Good spark. We thought we ran out of propane when it wouldn't start, so I went had filled it up and it was around half full before filling. Our "gauge" inside the motorhome is pretty much useless.

Previously, it always started with no trouble.

The propane HW heater, stove burners, furnace, and refrigerator all work fine.

No satisfaction from the dealer, so I dug into it myself. Glad I did.

Found an inline filter/magnet. Replaced that unit (although it is cleanable, I thought I'd replace it for peace of mind. Cost: $35 shipped).

Then, took off carb. Underneath the diaphragm on the top, there was quite a bit of oil. I sprayed the orifices out with carb cleaner till the fluid came out clear and reassembled/installed.

One connection on the fuel line seemed loose. It had on of those crimp type clamps on it. I cut off the end of the fuel line and reinstalled it with two conventional screw type clamps. I think this connection may have been sucking air.

It fired up almost instantly. I m one "happy camper" (pun intended)

Thanks for the info. I'm going to call a Onan/Cummins dealer here and make an appt.

Since you have "spark", and unit is spinning over normally, problem most likely fuel related. Most problems with LP fuel systems are with regulator vent hose being plugged up....bugs, mainly wasps, like the smell of the "perfume" of LP, they build nests in hose and plug it up, then the diaphragm of regulator will not work freely and let fuel into unit. Another possibility is fuel lock-off valve not opening and letting fuel to set, which could be a bad valve or control board. These things may help you find problem, but if you are not comfortable working with LP gas components, better to get a "pro" to check it out.
