Overnight parking in Cranberry PA

Heading down the PA Turnpike in June to DC from MI. Looking to stop over for the night about half way. That would be around Cranberry Township. I looked for campgrounds along the way but nothing looked promising along the turn pike.

I did make reservations at a hotel in Cranberry but I just saw they add 75.00 per night as a pet fee. So that would make it a 175$ night stay.

Curious, are there any known places in Cranberry that allows a stay in the parking lot? The Wallmart is out, I checked they don't allow it.

We stay right north of there at Bear Run in Portersville, Pennsylvania when we visit our son it Pittsburgh - they have large pull through site with full hookups

Good Luck, Cranberry has an ordinance against overnight parking.

Cracker Barrel just opened that location a few years ago. They originally were going to build there in the early 2000's but ran away when Cranberry would not let them put up one of their 300' high signs. I guess they finally caved, still no 300' high sign. Even McDonald's was not able to put up the Golden Arches. They bought a bread truck and made it a sign, every few days they move it to a different space and the township can't say anything lol, been doing it for at least 20 years. I have not been to that Cracker Barrel but would bet its has a township mandated sign about no overnight parking.

I would agree with Ralph Cramden go a bit more east and use Fox Den Acres nice long pull thru sites

Check out the Ohio Turnpike for service areas with RV hookups...we have stayed at several over the years, $20-$25 for Electric, water access and dump station. I can't remember where the last one in Ohio EB is.

If you overnight in Cranberry Township dont expect to not get a knock on the door in the middle of the night by the CTPD. I worked out of there for 20+ years. You might get lucky but if they notice you you'll be moving down the road. There used to be a campground 3 miles from the Turnpike interchange. It was ripped out and is now the site of UPMC and the Pens practice arena, was a dump anyway. Cranberry is not a township in the typical sense of the word. It's a busy crowded mess with more laws and regulations than most anywhere, with a lot of uppity residents who will make the call if they notice you. Its a good example of urban sprawl. It's the new place you just have to live if your an *******.


Why not plan to stop further East an hour or two? Fox Den Campground is off the New Stanton Exit, two nice state parks, Kooser and Laurel Hill off the Donegal exit along with some commercial, and Shawnee SP and some commercial ones off the Bedford exit.

Yes your correct it says it does. But as many these days you need to call to verify. I did and was told nope. No overnighting allowed.

I checked rv Parky app and it says overnight is allowed. Reviews were 5 stars. I’d say any other places in suburban Pittsburgh would be tough. Rest stops on Ohio turnpike might be promising.
