Purchased a Class C

I think (If the dealer supplies 6 new tires, a spare tire & wheel, supplies the missing central vacuum and the brake controller and a couple of trim repairs as well)I have pupurchased a 2009 Coachmen Freelander 27RS as it has an 80" bed (when the slide is extended and the bed made up)8600 miles on the Ford 450 and 94 hrs on the Generac generator.

The tires show no wear but the date code is 08 so going on 6 yrs they have to be replaced, It is a shame they are Firestones and look brand new.

I have not owned a motorized coach since 1984 (a Brougham powered by a Dodge 440) at which time I had access to a shop and did oil changes myself as well as minor repairs.

Do you Class C owners change the oil yourself? Do you have to be a contortionist to do this on a Ford V10? Can the quick oil change places handle the Class C? or should I be looking for a friendly truck shop? Is the air filter hard to get at and change ?

The unit has a Generac generator and I see a filter when I remove the bright metal plate. Will this filter be hard to find? Is there a drain plug underneath the generator that I can pull to change the oil?

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

I have a Generac generator. The oil filter is available at the local auto parts store and yes, there is a drain underneath. Mine takes about 0.8 Qt of oil and you have to be very patient pouring the oil in, it goes in slowly. Mine has 9 years and 97 hours on it and works fine.

Most class C rigs ride high enough that changing oil is easy. I don't even need to lift mine. My generator oil filter (Onan) was a special order. I could not find a car filter cross match.

Lucky.

Just sold the three year old pop up the other day. Cruising the ads for a C.
Someday.

Hi,

The oil and air filter change on the v-10 are dead simple.

I do take my RV to quick lubes when on trips.

I can't speak about the generator as I do not have one.
