Here is a cool video of my Ready Brute Elite tow bar in action. I must say, the sound is pretty awesome too. That was kind of a bonus to this video. 🙂 Clicky

I've gotten several different suggestions on how the safety cable should be ran. Can some one post a picture or video 😉 of how seafety cable should properly be connected specifically with the ready brute?

Oh yeah, interestingly enough, I had to back off the brake cable some when I did my first test run. had it so tight it was barely enough to turn on the brake lamps(Jeep).

93, this may be a problem for you. If your jeep brake pedal is activating your jeep brake lights you may be back feeding your MH lights and cancelling your turn signal lights.
I tow a 2000 Cherokee with a gas Dolphin. When I first hooked everything up I checked all the lights, tail, brake & turn, while in my driveway. Everything worked perfect. What would happen once I was driving was the ReadyBrake would pull on the jeep brake pedal, like it's suppose to, and activate the brake lights on the jeep via the jeeps brake light switch. This would cause the turn signals on the jeep & the MH to stop blinking even though I was getting a blinking light on the MH dash. To check if this is happening on your system turn on the blinker in the MH and push on the jeep brake pedal while someone checks your MH & jeep lights. I added an on/off switch under the jeep dash to kill the power to the jeep brake light switch while I'm towing.

Oh no debaets, I have the $170.00 Mopar tow harness. I can assure you this is not the case. See that wire harness in the vid?

Very good video... One nit... Safety cables should cross over under the tow bar so if it comes loose from the motor home (which happend to me) they play cradle.

The only "difficult" part of the install is determining how long, or short, the connecting cable should be. The instructions say 2-4 inches of play. Yours is a bit tighter than mine. When I first installed mine on the new car, I had it about as tight as yours appears to be. I had a guy cut me off and braked hard to avoid a collision. Upon inspection of the cable, I found it had snapped off near the front of the vehicle. Easy repair with some crush clamps but now I've increased the length a bit. I wish they had a better way to determine the length of that cable. After install I had a friend wait in a parking lot while I braked to watch it in action. Your video is a cooler way to do that...:)...thanks for posting....now I've gotta get out and mount the video camera so I can watch...:W....Dennis

P.S. I see you have the ReadyStop also installed....good call....D

Thanks for posting. I was unsure on how tight the cable should be as well. Mine is also about as tight as the video shows. Maybe I'll loosen it a bit.

Good video. Thanks for posting it. I just installed a readybrake and will be taking it on our first trip this weekend. One observation I thought I'd pass along -- your safety cables should criss-cross at the hitch to create a cradle in the event the tow bar becomes separated. That's pretty standard in any towing situation. Thanks again for the video.

IMHO these tow bar safety cables are so long, in the event of a separation, something will be torn up really bad. With chains, yeah definitely. These are far from chains. I'm putting my faith in the brake break away. 😉

I agree with you on the length of the cables and just wanted to point it out in case you weren't aware. 😉

Some will say there is a lot of loose movement with the Ready Brute. My video will definitely show this. I was more interested in seeing how the Road Master base plate would work. I just installed this one my new Jeep Wrangler unlimited. This time I went with the Road Master EZ5 base plate. This one is a little different than the MX series I had on my last 2 door wrangler. There seems to be more movement in the mounting arms. This was one of the reasons why I decided to "gopro" the action. I cannot make out the movement as well on the rear view camera.

THe EZ5 uses these removable arms that simply twist lock into place. My old MX series used the pins and I could lock them on. However the EZ5 was easier to install IMHO as I did not have to remove the bumper to do so or even drill any holes. The only thing I had to do was trim out some of the lower air dam.
