Removing King Mattress

Hello Everyone,

I am new to motor coach living and unfortunately need to replace my king mattress because of a bad mildew problem. How does one get the king mattress out of the bedroom?

Thanks for your advice ๐Ÿ˜„

I have a residential, big pillowtop mattress and we brought it in through the front door. Takes a couple guys and is not REAL easy, but not bad. Once through the door just slide it through the coach and onto the bed. Ours is about 12" thick and it will somewhat bend, but what you are mostly doing is squishing it through the door...lol. We left our wrapped in plastic while we muscled it in to keep it from getting dirty.

If its a foam mattress, roll it up and strap aroound it with lots of straps. You can roll them very tight that way.

My best advise is get some help. Doing it yourself could be a real pain. I'm guessing that it is the RV type king that is 75" to 80" long? They will fit out the front door. the toughest part sometimes is just getting it out of the bedroom as usually there is not much room to tilt it and get out the door. It can be done though, especially with a couple people to help wrestle it.

Indeed dubdub. I decided to put the mattress dilemma on hold for now. It is not bendy and is a sturdy pillowtop...heavy! I am in the midst of tearing up the carpet and that is sorta like wrestling with an animal too. That should keep me preoccupied for a while.

Not a problem if you have two or three big strong dudes. Wrestling a Grizzly bear seems easier than wrestling a king mattress out then putting the new one in! Stretch good and take some motrin, you will need it!

Getting the Old one out is easy! Bed Fold Chop or Saw it ! Installing a New undamaged one may be the bigger challenge!

Well if you're gonna throw it away...you can cut it in half.

I don't know about getting a king mattress out, but we were easily able to get a queen one out. It was the cheapy one installed in most RV's and it kind of bent in the middle.

In case you don't have a new one to replace it with yet, I can recommend a mattress from bedinabox.com. We LOVE ours. We got the 11 inch thick RV queen. What's nice about it, is that it comes in a box that you open once inside the bedroom. It expands then.
