Ride quality on Sightseer – Sonova 35G versus…

We’ve had an Itasca Sunstar 32k for 4 years and are thinking of upgrading. One of the things I’m not crazy about with the Sunstar is the ride, it’s very loud, bumpy, and harsh. I’ve always thought the ride quality was just what you got with a front engine Ford V10 and we would need to move into a diesel pusher with air suspension to get a real improvement. On a thread about another topic a poster mentioned how nice the ride on their Sightseer 35G is.

Can anyone give input on the difference we might expect between our Sunstar 32k and Sightseer or Sunova 35g? I will go and test drive, but due to a busy calendar won’t be able to that for a while.

F-53 needs chassis improvements and it will be a nice quiet ride..

Here's what I did and its as different as day to night..

I replaced the Bilstein shocks with Monroe RV shocks because they ride smoother and less banging on bumps, 4 air bags, 2 in front at 25 psi and rear at 55 psi, sound proof doghouse and floors under driver/passenger seat and moved sway controls to firm setting to help with sway and installed 4 centramatic balancers on all tires to make tire ride smoother..

The ride quality went way up and its so quiet I can hear my self think..

Cheaper than going to a DP..
X-2, I agree with this post! Please keep in mind that your driving a truck with a house on it! I put new Bilstein shocks on last Fall and it made a big difference in my coach.

My 35G rides better than my 30T did before I installed the Kelderman air ride. I still have not weighed and adjusted tire pressure. I did have a rear trac bar installed by dealer and steering stabilizer. We test drove the the Forza and the 35 G and determined the ride was better on the 35 G. Now that said I am sure tire inflation can make a huge difference and with some adjustment the Forza will drive well and be comfortably. We have a tendency to like soft ride over harder ride with tighter handling. All a matter of preference. I will know more after a few thousand miles and if it is not as good as I want it then I will not hesitate to add the Kelderman air system.

If you are looking for the best ride get a DP.

I do understand a diesel pusher will provide a much better ride. I don't think I want to spend the money now for a DP, so I'm exploring this option.

I don't know the difference between those 2 coaches but remember ride is subjective, what might be a crazy bumpy ride to you, someone else thinks it like a 1975 Cadillac limo.

What I do know is that I just got rid of a DP to downsize and have been test driving several different used gas class As and the ride is completely different. The gassers get going with this side to side sway and in comparison it is scary to a DP. If you are looking for the best ride get a DP.
