RV dump stations

I have not traveled out of state in a RV before. Most California Rest Stops have place to dump your tanks on a RV. Do other states have them and if they do witch states have them?

Thanks

I must retract what I said about dump stations in California. I have seen some and thought most all have them. I have never used them and they maybe shut down and I never noticed. I know of several servace stations in my area that offer free dumps. Yes some RVers have given RVers a bad name when it comes the our gray and black water. It must be 30 years ago I was reading about RV in the Lake Tahoe area that were dumping in the middle of Casino parking lots and streets. Laws were quickly made it illegal to park RVs on the streets and Casinos parking lots. I was at a RV park where some just dump in the creek next to his site. He left one smelly mess. I have heard of people dumping while driving down the road, so now it is illegal not to have a cap on the end of your pipe while driving in California. The trip I am planning I will be stopping at any places that do not offer dump station, so I will have to find some place to stop and dump. I was hoping some states offered them at rest stops.

Thanks

Buster

Many ( Oregon for sure ) have closed the dump stations due to people leaving a huge mess .. You wouldn't believe the people that just pull up and open the valve, no hose. I was behind one guy years ago and when I suggested he use his dump hose he laughed and said that's why the concrete is sloped and went on .
Actually. I'm surprised California still has them !

Not sure what part of California you're in, but a lot of rest stops don't have them. I'd say I know of more that don't have them than do have them. Last time I was in Oregon and paying attention, I did see that a lot of their rest stops did have them.

There is a book you can get a Camping World that is a directory of RV dump stations. I never bought one because I never had a problem finding a place.

We drove though 28 states during three months this summer. It was very rare to see dump stations in rest areas. I'm guessing we saw at most 1/2 dozen during our trip.
