Selling motorhome on Internet

Would it be proper to ask a question on this forum about selling a motorhome on EBay? If not, could a moderator please remove it? I want to list my motorhome for $30,000
If it sells, does anyone know approximately how much in fees I would have to pay EBay? I read their information, but I did not understand it. I want to list it for ten day periods. Do I have to pay for each period it is advertised? Thanks to all who might shed some light.

Maybe just a little but when dealing with large sums of money it is good to be cautious. If his CU in their letter says they will loan him less money than you want for your RV, then he can't afford your RV. The letter has nothing to do with your RV, it is the amount that the CU feels comfortable loaning him for any RV. Generally, pre-approval letters are written without a particular RV in mind. He tells his CU how much he wants to borrow and they check his credit and either agree or tell him how much they will loan to him. After he finds a particular RV, they will do their diligence as to what the RV is worth and if it fits their lending criteria. All a pre-approval letter is for is to show a seller that he is qualified to buy your RV. Evidently he is NOT qualified to buy your RV so it is time to move on from this buyer.

My suggestion to meet the buyer at his bank or CU if you hold title free and clear was a protection for you from counterfeit bills or phony cashier's checks. If a buyer's financial institution is unable to go be gone to, then you should make other arrangement to complete the sale. Suggestions would be cash (meet at your bank and deposit upon receipt) or a money wire transfer.

ol'yeller, I have no idea at this time where his credit union is located, and if going forward he makes me an offer, how would I deal with having to drive some distance to where it is located and with the logistics of releasing my motorhome to him? I am also suspicious that he already had pre-approval even before I spoke to him, and that it is for a lesser amount than I am asking, and he asked me twice what my selling price was, even though it is clearly stated on the advertisement? Am I just being too paranoid?

Pre approval just means that he can show you in the letter how much the CU will loan him. It shows sellers that he can afford the RV. It is for your peace of mind but it is just one piece of information. Definitely meet at your bank if you owe on your rig, his bank if you are free and clear. That way you know that they are giving you good money or check for payment

I've had several inquiries from potential buyers about my motorhome. One today, said he was "pre-approved" by his credit union and asked if I was "okay" with that. My question is..how would I deal with such potential offers? Since I am not a dealership, a pre-approval may not mean much to me, other than to tell me they have the money lined up (or is this a scam?). Would I still insist on a balance wire transfer as mentioned by Raymond1943, or cash, and all done in person, at his or my bank?

Use PayPal only for getting the deposit on the MH. Th e deposit whould be due within 48 hours after the sale. Get the balance by wire transfer to a checking account. I recently sold a classic muscle car on ebay. I got my PayPal money the same day the buyer deposited the funds. I wish you the best.

I recently sold my travel trailer. I got a ton of responses from craigslist but sold it on RVtrader. I believe the cost was around $50.

Thanks for the info. I have already listed it on Craiglist, so I am waiting for the scammers to come out of the wood work. Is payment via PayPal a scam waiting to happen, or is it safe? I know that there is a waiting period on PayPal for the money to show up, so I am reluctant to go that way. Or should I insist on cash or a direct bank deposit? I am staying away from certified or cashier's checks, or any other check for that matter.

Looks like it is free to list your MH on EBAY. Except for the upgrade items. Such as more than 12 pictures. $2. Using a reserve price. $15. 10 day duration adds $18. Buy it now is $5. plus other upgrade fees. Listed here.
The $125 selling fee only is charged if you sell RV on EBAY.
If you do not sell in the first 7 days. EBAY will list it for another 7 days for free. At least that was the what happened when I sold my boat. It sold at the marina I had it at. Not on EBAY.
You can put your listing together on EBAY. But will not be charged the fees until you actually start listing. You will see upgrade fees that it cost as you put listing together. You can delete listing at any time before you start listing. There will also be charges for using PAYPAL.
I see a lot of post here on RV.NET where items were bought or sold on Craigslist. You will find lots of articles on how to avoid scams on EBAY and Craigslist.
