Smart Light Not Working

My old Smart Light stopped working after a couple years due to the plastic over the motion detectors disintegrated, RV damage from the sun I guess.

I ordered a new Smart Light 1000 Motion Sensor Porch Light. It test OK, the blue light comes on and it switches to green at night but does not sense movement unless you are about a foot from it, usually the light just stays on. If I try adjusting the two little adjustment screws it the light stays on.

I'll call the company I purchased it from tomorrow but being an impatient type I hope I can get it working myself. I have read the instructions several times and tried the solutions there.

Afraid I just got a defective unite. Love the Smart Light just hate going to all the trouble of dealing with customer service and maybe having to ship the old one back.

Any suggestions? All are greatly appreciated!

First of all let me thank those that responded. The info about calling and getting replacement motion detector covers was right on, they were to ship me new ones yesterday.

As for the original problem, the tech indicated it could be a complex number of reasons mine was not working properly; he tried to explain but most was over my head. I run new wires and now it is working properly except you cannot adjust the sensitivity, if you move those screws then once the light comes on it just stays on but if they are turned all the way counter-clockwise it works. I am happy enough with that.

I had to replace the motion detector covers. If you call Smart Light they will send you free replacements, or at least they did for me. I was told that they changed the compound they make the covers with so the new ones should not have the same problem.

X2 - Mine are fine now after they sent new covers. They are a ***** to change though. Takes a lot of patience and dexterity.... 🙂

I've read they are prone to UV rays... Like you I really like the idea of using those.

I thought I read that they came out with better fix for the protection from the UVs...

Don't have any ideas what you might do to help...
