Sub floor

Having carpet replaced and have a soft spot in shower area. the installers are concerned about sub floor. Is it simply plywood? It is a National Tradewinds. Suggestions appreciated, thanks.

If you can get it dry and have access from above, You could use several treatments of Rot Dr.s CPES. It is very thin and penetrates very well.

prior to replacing the carpet, and after the damaged sub floor is replaced, I would coat the entire sub floor with at least two coats of polyurethane. This will not only help protect your floor from water damage but will also help eliminate any odors from the existing carpet.
On some coaches, like mine, the sub floor is laminated to foam to provide a thick sandwich type of floor that is well insulated.

Just a suggestion...I recently replaced a totally rotten floor in the basement compartment where all the plumbing is located. I used a sheet of HDPE which is hard plastic sheet. It was easy to cut and work with. Sort of expensive but you'll never have to worry about rot, soft spots, etc.

Pulling back the carpet will give you the FACTS very quickly. Many are OSB.

It's probably just regular plywood. If you're concerned about it happening again replace it with pressure treated plywood.
