We've been looking at Jayco and Winebago, Class C's in the 27-30 ft. range and about 1997-2003. Often the owners do not know the capacity of the fresh water tank; also wondering if 1 or 2 batteries is common? Like to hear from owners.
Our Coachmen lists the fresh water capacity, LP capacity, and weight as it left the factory.-- this is located in the wardrobe closet. The camper came from the factory set up for one battery under the entry step. The prior owner had wired a second battery in the adjacent storage area along with a small dryer type vent for ventilation.
Ours is new and 31'. Came wi one battery(adding a second). The fresh water is 40 gallons, black is 29 gallons and gray is 32 gallons. Hope that helps. They don't seem to have very big tanks.
I agree with checking with the manufacturers you're looking at. Winnebago is awesome with documentation that is available on their web site. Look for the previous year brochure listing link. You can also get all of the electrical schematics and plumbing diagrams on their site as well. And if you can't find the info you're looking for, shoot them an email and they'll answer within a day or two.
Our 2008 Winnie Chalet (Access)came with two house batteries and our tanks are 42 fresh and 41/41 gray/black.
When we got our 2003 Coachmen rv a couple years ago I emailed Coachmen and they emailed me a spec sheet on all the capacities on my model. Might try that with your mfg.
In our Winniebago Itasca, tank capacities are listed on a chart stapled on the back wall of one of it's clothing closets.
Also, you might want to go to the Winniebago site and look under the specifications for previous models. Perhaps capacities can be found there for the models you're interested in.
2 batteries is desirable. If there is only one I would hope to see provisions for a second. Be prepared to buy new batteries at any rate as they are often shot on used RVs.
You can figure out tank capacity with a tape measure and calculator if you can access the tank at all.
