Yes, it can be removed thru the front hood opening if you don't want to 'SAW' thru the inside dash top. The battery height must be less than 7.3/4 inches high. Unplug MoHo from 115 Volt Ac. Put switch in the Storage Mode. Under the step, push the Aux. batt. disconnect button. Open the hood.
1. Remove the 2 large air vent hoses. 2. Remove the 2 screws from the Air Conditioner expansion bottle. Move bottle to the left of the battery and push the 2 hoses behind the batt. 3. Remove the 1 front bolt from the black angle iron support arm and slide the arm to the right as far as it will go. 4. Remove the ground and 12 volt cables from the batt. Also remove the additional 12 volt cable from the positive connector and insolate with lots of rubber tape.(Lay this cable to the left of the Batt. 5. If not already present, slide a strong strap under the batt. and tie tight atop Batt. to provide a lifting strap. 6. Apply electrical tape to the Batt. Post to insolate them just to be on the saft side when lifting the Batt. Lift it up, slide forward and out. :B

Thor actually designed, built, and sells an RV that requires that much work to replace a battery? :S

My service guys, independent shop, did one by cutting a hole in side of Coach and fitting a specially made door into the cutout hole.
They said the door had come with the coach for when it was needed, just not installed.

BTW; Even if you 'Choose' to remove it thru the Dash, The same stuff is STILL in the way. You'll still want to remove the 2 big air vent hoses that go across the battery top and the AC canister hoses that also go across it and also the 3rd 12 DC cable that crosses atop the batt. and feeds the Coach battery Paralleling relay. lol

And not knowing the battery needs to be replaced at some point in time.

Yep, compared to the common "Open hood, disconnect cables, loosen/remove hold down, lift out battery" process, it sure does seem more complicated than it should be.
