Trailing arm repaired - Monaco Cayman 2003

Here is a picture of the repair done by my local big truck shop. Cost me $500.00.

First picture, you see the 1/2 inch plate, same on the other side. It is welded all the way on top and bottom, except for about an inch from the end, you can see the Welded Dot at the end to releive some stresses I beleive, this is how they do it on this type of repair. They had to unweld the top plate to insert the two additionnal plates than reweld it.

Here you see from the top, tww 1/2 inch plates fits right in. I do not think these will break where they use to, if the do somewhere else, I have ample of time to see it comming as it will not be in the hidden part.

I would pay more attention to the tires than the trailing arms, but that's just me. Having been through a blow out on an RV, I really don't want to do that again.

The tires are the originals. As per the Goodyear site, Quote "The warranty on Goodyear's Premium Radial tires expires at 5 years from date of original manufacture or new tire purchase date.
If you do not generate many miles per year on your RV tires and store the vehicle out of the sun, your tires will last many, many years" Unquote.

I also had them checked by a reputable Goodyear Tech Rep, now manager of a big truck tire business, and he said they where still in pretty good shape.

Does that tire have a DOT date of manufacture code of 0603? 6th week of 2003 or is that another code number I'm not aware of?
