Travato and Adding a Spare Tire

I have been wondering about adding a spare tire. I don't want to have a flat where the tire has to be replaced by buying one and have road service come out with it.
I'm thinking about adding this tire carrier so I will always have a spare. Here's the link:

I would get the center mount.
Any thoughts about this?
Thanks.

I wouldn't carry a full size spare. Just too big. I've only had a couple flats in my entire driving history.

But if you must, instead of one of those mounts, just get a swing away hitch carrier and put the tire inside that. Use the remaining space for other stuff.

As far as weighing your coach, that's a good idea to see where you are at eventually. But it's pretty silly to even suggest that you are marginal on CCC. You have lot's of capacity left, and certainly enough for a 100 lb wheel.

Why not get a fold down type like Roadtrek or Pleasure way? I can't remember who has them. They can be used as a grill table for your plug in barbecue.

I'd suggest loading it as for travel (full water, gas, LP, food, etc, & passengers). Take it to a truck scale or other weighing place (I use an Allied Van Lines branch). Get it weighed. Compare to the GVW on the door or glove box sticker. The tire, wheel, and carrier are probably going to weigh in the neighborhood of 100#. Be sure you've got that margin.

At the top of that page, there is a video showing the carrier swinging to the right. It may not clear the door 100% but it appears it would clear enough to open the door for access. I will be calling them to make sure it is going to work.
