I have a 15 year old class A motorhome with old analog tvs. I have had no trouble until now recieving an analog signal from the campground. A campground I want to visit this year upgraded to HDTV, QAM Tuner required. If I install new HD tv sets to work at this campground will the new tvs be able to work in other campgrounds that still delivers analog signal?

No problem that I know of with any signal for the new HDTV types.
For the most part, we use our old batwing antenna for crisp HD and especially when so many CG still only providing fuzzy wuzzy analog.
Seems we're either watching one of the major networks or one of the oldies channels, these days and the same thing for here at home.
Any time left, I load a flash drive full of movies or access the net directly with an Amazon firestick. Flash drives or DVD's work on the road, as well.

I have a new Samsun smart tv and after I scan for channels the tv will display /list how many digital channels and how many analog channels are stored. Smart Visio tv does the same. After I scan for OTA channels I add anolog channel either 3or 4, depending on which I am using for the satalite receiver for Direst TV

First Your old analog sets may do QAM, Do not know for sure, many do...

Second there are converters that do QAM to NTSC (They also do ATSC to NTSC) I have one though I've never tried it on QAM

Finally, If you install a new "Wide Screen" it will, most likely, do all 3 QAM (digital) ATSC (digital over the air) and NTSC (analog).. far as I know the only exception to that is the only TV made in the USA.. Element TV, does not do QAM.

Law? Did I say, by law or by definition or neither?

Television (TV) is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images in monochrome (black and white), or in colour, and in two or three dimensions and sound. The term can refer to a television set, a television program ("TV show"), or the medium of television transmission. Television is a mass medium for entertainment, sports, education, news, courtroom drama, vintage programming, politics, gossip and advertising.

None of these apply to a device without a tuner capable of receiving a television broadcast.

No matter, you can't change my mind. A TV without a tuner is a monitor.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

Bill, lets make this go away. Reference the FCC law that states all TV's must have a tuner. Doug

The law was in affect 2007. On 12/12/2012, the FCC modified the law to not require tuners.

I think we need more info. The CG has NO control over OTA signals.... Doug

x2

OTA -Over the air TV signals.
Your batwing antenna on your MH is what brings in the free TV channels NOT the CG.

CG's do not supply you with over the air channels. They have nothing to do with it.

Perhaps they are referring to if you hook up to their cable and It not compatible with old TV's still using the old converter box's.

But you don't need to hook up to their cable to get the OTA free TV channels. I always got 10 to 20 channels with OTA and the MH batwing.
Many more channels if parked close to a major city.

If you are buying a new flat screen TV, all you have to do is plug it in in your MH and flip the booster switch and there you go FREE TV channels ANYWHERE you park your coach! :C

Well Bill, I guess you will be rich after you start a Class Action Lawsuit on Vizio. I am NOT aware of any LAW that states a Tuner for a TV. The ONLY Law I am aware of is designated to the OTA Broadcasters. Below is for the OP's TV with NO tuner. Doug

Everything you love about VIZIO SmartCast just got smarter. The new VIZIO SmartCast TV launches apps directly from the big screen, and SmartCast Mobile allows you to browse and control your favorite content from your phone.

So I went to Best Buy’s website. Went to the product menu.
Selected televisions. Selected Vizio. Found my set.

It is called a Home Theater Display.

This is a cut and paste from the description:
“ Tuner-Free home theater display
Play content from cable and satellite boxes, game consoles, Blu-ray players and more. If you use an external antenna to watch local over-the-air broadcast TV signals, a TV tuner is required (sold separately).“

I bought it in the television department not the computer Dept.

It’s more than a monitor.

I’m calling it a tv.
My Kharma ran over my Dogma.

It should. I'm not aware of any modern TV won't also receive analog signals

More and more tvs dont have OTA tuners digital or analog.

Esp the really low price ones.

My 55" Vizio doesnt have one.

That is NOT correct. EVERY TV sold has OTA TV tuners. There are cheap MONITORS sold and these are NOT TV's. They are MONITORS designed to be connected to a computer, DVD, Cable box or other output device needing an HDMI or similar connection.
Again, these are NOT TV's as one would use to watch Over the Air programming.

We may be splitting hairs here on tuners. They can call a "TV" a Monitor, which requires no tuner. This is from Vizio Specs for your tv and others in the LARGE screen range. Doug

TV Tuner---No, if you use an external antenna to watch local over-the-air broadcast TV signals, a TV tuner is required and sold separately.
