Hi:

Need some help if anyone has encountered the problem of how to control 2
TV's in the RV Living Room. We have a new 2018 Allegro Red with two LG Televisions in the living room. When we try to control one tv both sometime react and sometime do not react the same. We turn one tv to a different channel the other tv may or may not change. Has anyone found an answer to this problem

We have the 2017 Tiffin Allegro Bus with two in the front. I just unplugged the one on the right side and use the one above the front window. Just be sure to secure the plug so it doesn't fall behind the TV.

I suspect spending much is not desirable. You could purchase an ir extender and locate the reciever at opposite end of room from second set. Cover the ir with the button and a peice of tape.

My solution is to unplug the one in the front overhead. Then I unplug the bedroom if the volume is loud enough to bug us. At least I am lucky that the outside one is a different brand so it doesn't turn on with the LG remote. It has only been turned on once just to see if it worked, still has the factory wrap on it.

Since most TV's made in the last five years or longer don't have manual controls tis a tad difficult to change manually.

how 'bout turning one off and/or getting up and changing channels manually? how is it possible to watch two different programs at the same time in such a confined space?

Again, any time you have same make/model TV's you will have that problem, or solution (Depending on where they are)

I have 3 TV's two side by side are DIFFERENT makes, no interaction
Front and primary bedroom are also different makes but same I/R codes so the same Remote works both.... For most features. This is (or was) a solution for me

Swap out one TV for a same size Samsung or Sony Or Toshiba or Dynex or ______ (any one that does not take the same remote) Take your remotes to the TV store when shopping to insure different codes needed,.

Hi All:

Thanks for the many suggestions, we have contacted both Tiffin and LG to no avail neither had a suggestion on how to fix our problem. We have now adjusted to the fact we need to stand directly in front of one of the TV's (Very Close) and do the control we want done this works 90% of the time, even doing this sometimes activates the TV to our back. Again Thanks

We have this issue with our two living area TV'sf and they are different brands! The front tv is an Element. The midship tv is a Sony. The only controls that consistently interfere are the power and volume controls. I have not found a way to fix this yet, but adding a screen to reduce the sensitivity of the ir recievers sounds like a possibility.

I have the same issue in my Fleetwood Discovery. It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does I just turn off the offending TV with the off switch on the side of the TV.

Stick one on Craigslist and buy another brand. Looks like that would be something the factory would think about but it's no surprise.

Your beam from the remote is more like a flash bulb than a flashlight. It spreads quite wide rather than a tight beam. Try making some shades from black paper or tape to restrict the direction. Hint,. You can't see the infared, but if you lower the light a bit and use the camera on your cell phone, you can see the infared light on the camera screen.

We have 2 sets probably six feet apart. You certainly can have both on and control one set only if desired by getting close and pointing remote directly at the desired set. If you just stand in the middle it will change both sets at the same time. We typically will only have one or the other on unless I am watching sports then they both might be on the same channel.

Every brand of TV uses their own unique codes to control their products.
Your, (and all) TVs use Infra-Red light, so it is "line-of-sight". If you can close a door between the 2 TVs, that would take care of the problem.
I do recall that some brands made a menu option to change the characteristics of one TV to avoid this problem. You might check the owners manual or scroll thru the various menu settings.

Mike,
In this case it's not exactly line of sight. I was thinking the same thing until I saw how it worked. The front TV reacted exactly as the middle TV, the one with the remote pointed at it. The remote wasn't in any way even remotely (no pun intended) pointed at the front TV.

Reflective..? Like a mirror
IR is still light, and reflects off polished surfaces counter tops, windows, ceiling fixtures, maybe even the TV being pointed at
The other TV sensor, is sensitive enough, to pick up the reflected signal
And the strange response like a different channel, is because signal bounce caused it to be read as a different code than what is actually sent
You might try making a little 'shade' cover for the iR sensor on front of the other TV flat mat black, that might work
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Tiffin uses both LG and Panasonic(older Tiffins). There is NO remote programming. There is no fix, but when I test Tiffin systems, I do NOT point the remote anywhere but directly at the TV I am controlling. Even in the LR with the 2 TV's. Doug

When you do that, does it controll both TVs or just the one you're pointing at?

On our friends Allegro when he pointed directly at the bigger mid-mounted TV both TVs reacted. When he pointed directly at the smaller front mounted TV the mid-mounted one also reacted.

Both TV's do not react. I make sure it points directly at the TV. Also, remember, shiny surfaces in the RV can have the IR signal bounce off even when not pointing at the TV. What I don't get when people complain about this is, You have 2 TV's in the SAME ROOM area, WHY would you want to see 2 different channels in the same room at the same time. WHOSE volume are you going to use??????????????????? Doug
