Warning!! 2006 Itasca Spirit 31T at Brambilla's

Went to buy one of their former rental vehicles, which was a great deal. When we got there the salesperson was rushing us, saying there were other buyers who wanted it, sight unseen. We insisted on a pre-purchase inspection and he finally let us take it to a mechanic. Extensive water damage--floor under laminate was completely wet. They had used bleach or something to kill the mold. We passed.Wife was crying Beware. Wasted a lot of our time, but at least we didn't have to travel hundreds of miles, as many people will do when buying an RV. I feel sorry for whoever buys this RV.

If it were me I would VERY NICELY ask to see the 'General Manager' of the RV dealership and 'very nicely' ask him to refund your inspection costs because you believe they were aware of the floor. Mind you NOT the salesman but talk only to the GM.

Just saying wouldn't hurt, doesn't cost you anything, and heck you might get your money back for the your inspection costs.

BTW, I posted it here hoping that someone interested in buying it will find my post.
Also, Clicky, one of the reasons, I Insisted on getting it inspected.
Rethinking it now, I realize they were trying to sell it very quickly before the mold really set in.
Someone came back from a rental with the water leak, and they put it on the lot right away. They probably charged the renter a lot of money for the damage as well.

Good catch. Thanks for posting the link.

I've talked to some of these dealers and asked what they are held liable for and/or disclosure where these used RV's come from and previous damage. Guess what they are not. They do not have to follow the strict rules that are in place for auto dealers. The person I talked to said often will buy up burned up, water damaged, totaled, etc RV's from the auctions. Detail and repair them and out they go on the lot.

On the other hand though. If the previous owner did the bleaching to cover up the mold and water damage the dealer may not have known about the condition of the under layment.

The salesman rushing you should have been a red flag. I'm glad you didn't get burnt on the deal.
