What didn't I like about our BF:

I am quite satisfied with our 2010 BF, because it was custom-built to our unique accessibility needs.

I'm also very satisfied with the company's focus on quality, with extensive testing before the unit leaves the factory. To me, the water chamber test just means that it's proven that it overcomes the leakage problem -- when it leaves the factory!

The problem with leaks is that, once you take ANY coach on the road -- regardless of whether it's a fiberglass, aluminum on wood, or any other construction -- it will shake, rattle and roll. Over time, without the proper maintenance, any joint has the potential to leak.

BF's 3 year warranty includes leakage coverage, so they'll repair any leaks that may occur. How many other builders will warrant theirs for that period?

What I dislike about the current BF models:

3-4 years ago, the company made a pivot to "modernize" up their interiors with newer designs. However, although these are fancier, they often create problems for "older" owners (the historic RV audience) with poorly contrasting switch labeling and overly complicated technology (Firefly RV-CAN control systems on an iPad, RiverPark dash entertainment systems, etc.).

It must be the modernizing that turns the wife and I off totally. But I asked and recieved the answer I was wanting to hear that THEY will install the brass hardware I purchase to be installed. That modernistic brushed stainless hardware leave me cold....and the interior lights....geeze!!!

WRONG!

To quote from the Leap'n Lions Forum registration instructions:

Born Free motorcoach owners and others interested in RV ownership or the RV lifestyle are encouraged to register. If this does not describe your interests, please do not register on this forum.

If in the opinion of the Website Administrator (bfadmin) anyone registering on this forum that has no real interest in Born Free motorcoach ownership as reflected in the enteries into the registration fields Location, Occupation and/or Interests may have his registration deleted.

Also, if you do not intend to post on this forum, then there is no need for you to register and it is encouraged that you do not register. Please note that registering on this discussion forum does not make you a member of the Born Free Leap'n Lions RV Club.

NOWHERE in there does it specify that you have to be a paid up member of the Born Free RV Club -- or even an unpaid member; just that you have to have a realistic interest in Born Free coaches.

When I was looking for a used RV both BF and LD were about high on my list. BF was at the Hershey show, LD was not but that year a local owners group (Northeast Lazy Daze) had a GTG in central PA. While at the show I pulled out a magazine and read a while sitting in the chair as other people toured the RV. Doing that gave me a good idea of what it would be like sitting in one on a rainy day or if the sun was to strong for me to be outside (skin issues). I liked the layout of the BF I was sitting in, but as already mentioned earlier by another, the windows in the LD made the area seem less small.
The windows in the LD made a huge impression. I confess that at the time I had spent some 30 years working in rooms with no windows. And the park that the LD meet was at showed off the view from those windows to great effect.

Lack of windows. Small feeling inside.

There are many more things to like than dislike. They would be on my short list (after Lazy Daze) if my Lazy Daze disappeared one day.

I did find one thing from constant browsing. The factory contacted me and sent me some emails of various hardware...fabrics...etc
I call them today and said I love the fabrics...the woodwork...etc, But the faucets and door pulls flat left the wife and I stone cold. I wouldnt have them in my outhouse and told the sales guy there exactly that. I asked that if I bought and paid for all that such items in BRASS....would they install them as they were building. I got an affirmative.

Time will see whats what?

Wheelbases on some models are too short. There's one shorter model that has more rear overhand than body between the wheels and cab. Could be an issue if you plan on towing.

Bought a '99 Lazy Daze in 2012 and looked at a comparable BF at the same time. No comparison. BF had only a 2 burner stove vs 3 in Ld. No booth dinette. Smaller bed over cab. Only 1 sofa. (LD has 2). Lazy Daze is hard to find.
