Hey all. picked up some new pie irons last weekend while on a local campout. go 1 single and 1 double (cast iron) Used to use these all the time. Glad I have them back in the arsenal.

usually make pizzas in them. breakfast sandwiches were a big failure last weekend. Going again this weekend to try.

I've done all sorts of things in them before but always fun to hear others favorites.

what are yours?
Q: Whats brown and sticky???

A: A Stick....

The Rome Panini iron is much more substantial than the standard pie irons, even Romes, in the cast iron department. It holds heat at a more consistent temperature for a longer time due to the amount of iron. With some experimentation you can heat it up in the fire, pull it out and slap the sandwich in, and just let it sit there on the ground for 8 to 10 minutes and its perfect. You just have to figure out how hot to get it. Its well worth $25.
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Rome Manufacturing is the Cadillac of the pie iron world, all others are wannabes despite Romes actual manufacturing being hecho in chino. We have the standard square ones, the hot dog irons, the hamburger irons, and the Panini iron. Believe me you want the Panini iron.

What pie irons did you get? Mine are round and pretty thin, I am looking for a better set. I usually use them for fruit pies around the fire but sometimes I make hot pockets like pizza, ham and cheese, Philly steak and cheese, pulled pork BBQ, eggs, sausage and potato, even somores.
