Cheap ipad at Wal Mart

I went into the Wal Mart website and was suprised to see the iPad with retina for about $100 less than every one else is selling it for. Looked like a Black Friday special still running. Just about ready to order, when I noticed it was OS6. Went back to the Apple and Best Buy websites and noticed the latest is OS7. Is there much diffenence? Is $100 more worth it to have the latest? Every thing I own is a PC or Android phone, but getting so tired of the freeze ups and pop-ups. Strongly considering the change to an Apple ipad.
Thanks for any purchasing advice.

You don't HAVE to activate it at all.

You don't have to enable data on the Ipad, except for the first month, then you can cancel it, and reactivate it when ever you want. The GPS will still work no matter which.

If you want a 16gb ipad 4, you can get in on Apple Refurb site for $379. $120 less than Wal Mart. Already has the upgrades. 16gb might not be big enough depending on what you plan on doing with it.
Good luck

You do not have to pay a cellular charge with a WiFi equipped iPad, although some retailers will activate it when you purchase. All you need to do is go online & suspend the service. I purchased mine from Apple, and used it for 8 months before I activated the Verizon service. The GPS works fine without cell service, while using a non GPS equipped version for navigation will give you a fairly accurate location as long as you have an local WiFi signal, it won't be usable outside of a WiFi connection where the GPS versions will work anywhere as long as you choose a navigation program that doesn't require a cell connection (such as CoPilot).

One note - if you plan to use the cell connection in the future, be sure to choose a carrier that covers the area you plan to travel in. The Verizon & AT&T iPads are not interchangeable - they have different radios in them...

Make sure what you are looking at. I don't think its a retina w OS6.
Walmart online is ipad retina for $499, $390 for a refurb (great price)
iPad 2- $389. Best Buy has ipad Retina for $449.

Difference is that WalMart model is not cellular. Those models also will not work as GPS unless WiFi connected. Not much value to RV'er

Does not matter what OS it ships with. A few finger presses online and you have the latest OS Apple offers.
