Firefox downloading problem.

Good Morning:
I like the speed of FF downloading websites over the other available browsers but it
stops frequently and I have found restarting my computer is the only way to wake FF up again. When I click on a website desktop icon or a favourites website the cursor arrow and the eggtimer both appear as usual, but the eggtimer disappears and nothing happens--that is when I have to restart. I have Win7.
Any solutions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Radar.

'Opening' web pages , does require data to be loaded
if your pc is doing a 'virus scan' when first starting up
or 'auto scans' all web pages and downloads
then it will be forced to wait before it can open the page
the other possibly trouble with your internet connection (hardware or software)
impeding the data transfer
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

I have no problem downloading with Firefox in Win 7 (or any other OS). As has been said, it is likely that your pc is busy with updates. Set all software that checks for updates to notify but not install. Then you have control of your computer and not the computer having control of itself.

Just go with google chrome. I switched years ago because i could not stand all the******on firefox. I like my browser clean and junk free. I've never once used all those add ons and extra junk search boxes. google chrome's search function is in the browser bar at the top, same as the address bar.

The "icons" are just the website shortcuts I have placed on my desktop.
Frequently, when I click on any one of them (e.g. RV.NET), both the cursor arrow and the egg timer will show up as normal but when the egg timer disappears and the websites normally open the arrow remains but the websites do not open up. This is only remedied when I re-start the computer-then all websites open as normal, at least for a while.
Hope this clears it up,
Thanks,
Radar.

Firefox works fine for me in WIN 7. What do you mean by downloading websites? Are you referring to delays when surfing websites?

what do these icons 'link' too
to a direct download?

you need to make sure your PC isn't busy doing something else, email? , windows update etc..
before you click the link
I can explain it to you.

If you have any programs that are set to automatically update (especially Win 7) you browser will freeze until the update is completed.

If you set those programs to "Notify me", the freezes will become "slowdowns".
