I use my smartphone for Google Maps, and it is in a holder that attaches to the windshield below the rear view mirror. It has never seemed to be "in the way".

What is nice about having it attached to the windshield is that it is really easy to glance at it rather than looking down somewhere on the dashboard.

I have read that in some states it is illegal to have things attached to the windshield, except (I assume) the rear view mirror?

I have a GPS and back up camera in one unit on the dash.

As it turns out, I pretty much never use the GPS when backing up. ๐Ÿ˜‰

GPS, TPMS, and dual rear camera monitor, plus the usual engine and speed displays and a dash radio. The GPS voice directions mean I seldom have to look at it, the TPMS has audible alerts if there's any tire problems and the rear camera monitor serves as a rear view mirror, so there's really not much additional distraction while under way.

I have all but the back-up camera, and I'm looking for a good, inexpensive one of those. I often use the gps to monitor my speed rather than using the speedometer. The tpms is in view and readily accessible but sets in a location where it's not a distraction.
