I purchased the RM 7720, I upgraded from the 7710. The weather feature was great and it works in Canada too and is the ONLY reason I upgraded. I travel with wifi all the time which is the only way the weather feature will work is if you have wifi. I got caught in 2 storms last trip and it was nice to stop and see the intensity, wind speed and direction the storm was headed. I have never used the Garmin so cannot comment. I love the 7720 and I think most features are common in both units from what I read. I like using the virtual dashboard when not using the gps portion. The quick stops feature is nice where it finds the closest stops like walmart, flying J and others. From my reading I do not think you can go too far off with either unit, everyone who uses one or the other seems to be pretty happy. I know this does not help a lot, but......
I think I saw where the new Garmin RV unit will ship sometime in the middle part of July. You might want to ask your question at the end of July. I too want to hear from someone using the unit.
