Is Apple Also Spying ?

I notice sometime if my Millenicom device doesn't connect to a Verizon server right away a log on screen will pop up. This screen connects to servers that I've never heard of. I found that Apple is connecting to one of their servers, happens on my iPhones and iPads. Why is Apple doing this, what are they doing with my data? Since I pay for my data on a metered connection....guess who is paying for the data they are collecting. Wonder if this is connected to Apple stuffing their iOS updates down our throat ?

Best not to think about it but all the NSA data that is being collected on 100% of Americans including phone calls, email, and browsing activity it available to all their employees and to more than 2 million independent contractors.

A fellow in the Chicago area a few months back was using the internet to buy a backpack and a pressure cooker. Short time later a full on SWAT team broke down his front door in the middle of the night and arrested him in front of his family and neighbors. There used to be a Bill of Rights in this country but that ended on October 26, 2001 when Bush signed the Patriot Act into law.

Germany had the Reichstag fire and in the USA the Twin Towers collapse was used to the very same end. In both cases the countries industrialists profited enormously and the evenual outcome was the invasion and occupation of other countries.

It takes some technical expertise, but a rooted Android phone with ad-blocking software, a hosts file, and an outgoing firewall (to prevent certain apps from constantly phoning home, or to force the apps to only call the mother ship via the Wi-Fi connection) seems to be the best way to do things for privacy these days.

Jailbreaking an iPhone is also another way, but I'd not expect a JB until after iOS 8 is released.

Sigh! I thought you learned in the other thread about updating iOS you started that Apple does not stuff their iOS updates down your throat, unless of course you might be too dense to understand a very simple instruction. I, not believing that of you, does leave me to believe you are trolling.

It is collected in dribs and drabs then sold in bulk.
Live with it or cut the cord.

Do you have credit cards? Do you use retail store rewards cards? Do you use the Internet? Apple should be the least of your worries.

Very likely. You can turn of automatic updates for apps, you can elect not to send data to Apple, but if your device is plugged in and connected to wifi it WILL download any iOS update, which then sits on your device consuming space until you install it. If your wifi/routing device supports blacklisting, you can block the specific server Apple uses for iOS updates.

Indeed Apple does collect data from your iphone which also shortens the battery life. This link tells you how to turn some of the monitoring off.

IMO, everyone that can IS collecting my data. To me it comes down to who do I trust most ( suspect least ) with my data. For me that is Apple. Certainly not Google. Apple sells devices primarily. Google sells ads.

Well.. The "Official" reason they connect to their server is to check for updates to your apps and operating system. They may also have an app or two that needs access to their servers.

My theory as to why they connect (AND NOTE< all these comments apply to Android and Windows and Chrome devices as well)

Well.. Just re-read the subject line of this thread.

But then... I really am paranoid,,, A Professional doctor diagnosed it and everything. However,, he overlooked the physical evidence of the fact that there were actually people "Out to get me" (Documentation of their failed attempts exists) so perhaps a bit of paranoia was a good thing (Why the attempts failed).
